Just curious...would you have a party on a weekday for kids?

Specifically during a week when you know the kids are off from school?

We've gotten a few invitations lately for birthday parties during the week, primarily on a Friday afternoon/night. I always take DS and there are always a lot of other kids so I guess people adjust their schedules.

No, and I hate when we get invited to them if it's a school friend and only one kid is invited, since it's not easy for me to find someone to watch the other one on a random weekday afternoon.

no, parents lives are already hectic enough getting to and from work, picking up the kids...dinner, baths and whatever else. Im sure the kids would be just fine, but Id never do it to the other parents, LOL

I guess I am in the minority here, but yes I would. Its cheaper and I personally prefer to have my weekends to myself and my family. I don't like it when people have kids parties on Saturday night or even late afternoon. MAybe when my son is in elementary school this September I will feel differently.

Re: Just curious...would you have a party on a weekday for kids?

I personally would not have my DC's party on a weekday but that is because my DC go to daycare and the invite list would be mostly kids from daycare so I think it's a huge inconvenience for parents. However, if I was a SAHM and were inviting children who also had SAHM, I wouldn't have a problem with it.

I did but it was a Friday at 4pm, so I had to take off work. I would do everything to avoid it. My kids have missed parties because they were during the week & we were working or on occasion another parent will offer to take them.

I would also...I had dd's 3rd bday on a Thursday late afternoon..I saved over $100...i thought about the parents and was sure most of them would be able to go...it was during Spring Break and most of my friends are teachers...it doesn't bother me at all when other parents do it...

No. I can understand why other parents do it, but I work full time and it is an inconvenience for me.

If it were a Friday afternoon or night, I might take DS, but another time during the week, I probably wouldn't.

I would if i knew the parents could make it. Usually if it's kids that you want to come and the parents are working or the kids are in daycare you can make arrangments to get them there.

Re: Just curious...would you have a party on a weekday for kids?

I had DD's 4th birthday party during the week. We invited kids from preschool and a couple of neighbors. I made sure it was during the time her school would normally be held, so I knew the parents were available during that time of day.

It was about $150 cheaper for me to do it during the week, so it was definitely worth it.

Once your DC are in school, you'll find out that the weekends are usually double and triple booked with sports, family activities, etc. We originally had DS's b-day scheduled for the weekend, but nobody could make it. They all had other things scheduled. We switched it to a weekday, and we had a much bigger turnout.
