what do you do when your newborn just wont let you put them down?
my DD has been the perfect child. but the last 2 days shes been such a fuss. all shes been doing is eating constantly and refuses to be put down. i just got 45 min but thats it shes starting to scream again... my cousin said her son did that when he was having a growth spurt... is this common? and how do you get anything done when they just wont let you put them down? her crying like this makes me want to cry!
just a side note shes only 3 weeks old

it's totally normal. i would get a sling so you can carry her around and still have your hands free.

Yes, sorry to say but totally normal...could be a growth spurt. The sling will help. Just know most likey it won't last much longer, usually by 8-9 weeks they get into a better "schedule." Most babies have a witching hour & some just crave to be held.

Re: what do you do when your newborn just wont let you put them down?
ds is 4 weeks and needs to be held constantly. i just type with one hand. i make lunch at night when ds goes to sleep so i dont have to put him down AT ALL during the day. other than that, he just wails when i have to go to the bathroom.
he also doesn't sleep during the day and is up for 12 hour stretches at a time. he's a weird little guy...

THANK YOU!!!!! i was starting to thinksmethigns wrong.. we've had so many issues with formulas i was praying that this was not the begning of another formula issue!... i guess ill have to invest in a sling. i have the chicco carrier but it just seems so huge for my little peanut. maybe a cloth sling would be better for this age.

Re: what do you do when your newborn just wont let you put them down?
DD#2 does this - with DD#1 she refused to be put down but she liked the ultimate baby carrier so I just threw her in there when I needed to do things or I was out and she wanted to be carried. DD#2 on the other hand hates the carriers we have so far (hoping this will change). She prefers being over our shoulders so I just throw her over my shoulder when she gets like that and chase my older DD around. It is a pain but I'm getting used to it. You just do what it takes at that age to get them quiet. If you have a sling or carrier I would definitely try that so you have your hands free.

my son was like this... we just found different ways to carry him around... investing in a carrier is probably a good idea.
i bought the moby wrap recently and i really like it.
also, 3 weeks is the first major "growth spurt", so that may have something to do with it...

That used to happen particularly when DS was going through a growth spurt...in the beginning I felt helpless because I couldn't move...then I figured out how to sleep with him on me...and that was great. So when that happened I would just hold him...whatever he needed.
