Is this normal (after coming home with new baby)? PLEASE help
I had my C section on Saturday, discharged Tues...
Since then I've been an emotional mess....I cry just looking at my DD--I love her so much so I cry, I cry thinking of how scared and alone she might feel, I ALSO cry thinking of how I have no freedom anymore ---how awful is that? I look at her and love her so much but there is a small pang of my god, my life is over I have to do my best for my baby and everything else comes 2nd
I also see DH differently now....I've always loved him so much, and now as a father I love him even more, and with how he has been through this recovery at the hospital & home, and taking care of DD, helping me try to BF....just all the house stuff.....I look at him and I start crying.....then I think to myself a small part of him wants to be at work like a normal schedule and then I feel guilty...likes its my fault he's not
I feel guilty for some of these feelings and I cry....I had an emergency c-section so then I feel guilty about how our 10% hospital bill is more....
I feel sad cause I think I am struggling with BFing and have to keep pumping AND formula supplementing and how am I going to ever get a schedule down
Is this all normal? What do you do to stay positive? Don't get me wrong, I LOVE LOVE LOVE dd, but I thought when I came home, I would be feeling better than this....

TOTALLY normal Baby Blues. It will get better. The first week I was a mess. I cried at commercial. It will get easier. You have a HUGE decrease of hormones. Your body is all sorts of screwed up. It WILL get better. Just try and take it one step at a time. Take a nice long hot shower and have a cup of tea and just relax. You are not nuts or crazy. Its all normal.

this is how I was too. I cried about everything. I had a really bad case of the baby blues. I started feeling better after a few weeks.

Completely normal
With DD #1 I was an emotional wreck for a couple of weeks
With DD #2 - 6 weeks and my emotions "seem" to be under control (at least for today )

Re: Is this normal (after coming home with new baby)? PLEASE help
Yes! I could have written most of this post right after my DD was born. I couldn't stop crying and felt terrible that I didn't feel the way that I was "supposed" to feel. It got MUCH better by 3 weeks PP. It helped me to talk to other moms about what I was feeling and to remind myself that a lot of what I was feeling was made worse by hormones and sleep deprivation.

Sounds normal to me. Hormones really do a number to you pp. Have you gotten out of the house by yourself at all yet? I'm a big advocate of getting out in the beginning for a little bit to clear your head. Just a simple walk around the block may do wonders. I am sure your DH wouldn't mind.

Re: Is this normal (after coming home with new baby)? PLEASE help
Same thing happened to me. It started about a week and half after my c-section. I cried about everything. I couldn't control it. It lasted about a week and then finally I felt like me again!
PS... I still feel a little sad that my "old" life is over, but then I look at DD and I wouldn't want my life any other way!

Re: Is this normal (after coming home with new baby)? PLEASE help
i cried a lot the first few days. DD is a little over 2 weeks old and now I am starting to feel more like myself. mainly, i would just look at her and get very emotional. i would pray that she will always be safe and healthy and all that and thinking those things made me cry. i also got VERY emotional about my work situation. on the day i was discharged, my principal called me and offered me a part-time position. i was SOOOO exicted, but then DH and i crunched numbers and it just won't work and so i was sooo upset and felt so guilty about leaving her even though it won't be until December.
i also had a very dificult delivery and was in a lot of pain from stitches and all the other glorious issues down there and cried a lot about that too.
don't worry , it's normal!!!
ETA: i am still crying over being frustrated with BFing, but other than that, i am good!

Completely normal! I went through it too. It goes away. Just don't make any sudden decisions during this time period. It will pass.

Re: Is this normal (after coming home with new baby)? PLEASE help
Completely COMPLETELY normal I REALLY wish more women would open up and talk about the reality of postpartum depression more openly, in person - I think it would have helped me with my first child. I'm not going through it quite as much this time around, because i've already been through it and have the benefit of hindsight now to know that it's normal, that I'll get through it, and that I'll find a rythm and a "new" normal soon enough. But, yes, everything you are feeling is SO normal - your hormones are completely jacked up, you are taking care of this tiny little life that you are totally responsible for, and your entire world has been turned upside down in a way that you could never fathom, of COURSE you would feel as jumbled as you are emotionally!
Even now, while it's easier doing it the second time around because it's not quite as much as an adaptation as it was for my first, I still find myself crying a lot, particularly over the loss of my father a few months ago, and all that's he missing with my newborn. And even last night, I started SOBBING because I feel like my bond with my first DD isn't as strong now, and truth is, I miss her, and the routine we had together every day. But I know from past experience that I'll get through this, find a new routine, and will find an even happier balance, with time, as will you

I was a mess the couple of weeks after DS was born and I was very emotional! I cried for no reason when they were weighing my son in the Ped's office ~ I was so embarrassed!!! It gets better!

Re: Is this normal (after coming home with new baby)? PLEASE help
Completely normal. I felt the same way with my first, and a little bit the same with my second. You just went through major surgery and your life IS forever changed with your new little DC - for the better! Its silly to say, but try to relax when you can, know it's ok to cry and take care of yourself and the baby.
