Breaking a lease
There are some things going on with my DH family, and it looks like we will be moving at the end of the month to help out and take care of some things...
We JUST resigned our lease for the new year (7/1- started the new lease)
There is NOTHING in our lease about termination...and when I called management to find out what our options were there just said to write a letter and mgmnt would get back to us...
Im prepared to loose security and even pay them out for a couple of months (since its such short notice)
Im wondering what might happen from here.....I mean can they keep us here???

Re: Breaking a lease
When we broke our lease at our complex, i think the only fee we had was to pay an additional month rent.

Re: Breaking a lease
where we are at, we would have to give 30 days notice & we would lose our security & pay for 1 month.
I hope everyting works out for you.

Re: Breaking a lease
totally depends on your lease and what your management says. You should immediately check out what the lease break provisions are in your county. there may be restrictions on what they can charge you, etc.
our apt building used to have a policy that if you broke before the end of the lease, you'd pay the rent until they found someone to rent your apt. they changed it a two years ago to a flat $3000.00 lease break penalty. needless to say, we went month to month this last time!

Re: Breaking a lease
I used to live in a fairfield appt complex in port jeff, when I got engaged and married I had to break my lease. I had to givr them 30 days, (ie this months rent didn't count toward the surrender) and pay two months and surrender my deposit.
