Louis Vuitton Repairs - Updated Below - it's being fixed!
Has anyone had to get a LV bag repaired? I'm wondering if the store gives you a hard time..
The strap of my Cabbas Mezzo is detaching from the bag.
I'm hoping they don't charge for repairs... the bag was $ enough that it should have a lifetime warranty in my opinion

Re: Louis Vuitton Repairs
The canvas on my speedy 30 started cracking, so i brought it in to be fixed, thing is its impossible to be fixed because its a huge piece of canvas, So they gave me a new bag for free.
They will defin fix it, and not give you a hard time, i bought it at macys LV, and brought it to Americana to be fixed(replaced)

MrsM how long did you have your speedy when the canvas started cracking? I get so nervous about the possibility of the canvas cracking.

Re: Louis Vuitton Repairs
What about getting a strap shortened? I got my LV 15 yrs. ago and the strap is soooo long and my mom mentioned years ago I should go and see if I can get it shorter.

Re: Louis Vuitton Repairs
What about getting them cleaned professionally? What are my best options? It's mostly that the inside of the bag gets gross but I am picky about things like that. I do not want to use a cleaner that may stain and leak to the extent that it shows on the outside.

Re: Louis Vuitton Repairs
I called the store at the Americana and they told me they need to access the problem before telling me if they would charge or not. The woman goes, "we need to see WHY this happened." what is she going to tell me? It's my fault beacuase I carry a ton of crap? Isn't that the point of a HUGE bag?
I'm going to bring the bag in next weekend... I'll let you all know how it turns out!!

Re: Louis Vuitton Repairs
I took my Mom's LV to get fixed inside the Walt Whitman mall. They didn't give me a hard time at all. Took a few weeks to have fixed and returned.

Re: Louis Vuitton Repairs
I'm so p*ssed...
Here is what's wrong with the bag.. the part of the strap that is attached to the bag is tearing away from the bag...on one side!
So yesterday I took the bag to LV in Macy's in Roosevelt Field. They tell me that they have to charge me $120 and they will need to replace both sides of the 1 strap. Also, the pieces they need to now replace will be the light tan when you first buy a lv.. i've had the bag for 2.5 years and the straps have aged to a darker tan. AND.. it'll take 6-8 weeks to fix.
The woman says to me, "this bag is old.. we don't warantee them." 2.5 years is old for a $1,200 bag? That's news to me.. I don't even use the bag all the time.. it's in GREAT condition except for that damn strap!
I told her I was taking the bag to another LV. She told me to try the store on 5th because they have a repair shop and it'll take less than 6-8 weeks, but they will charge me as well.
This is NOT cool with me...

Re: Louis Vuitton Repairs - Updated below... I'm PO'ed!
Oh no. My LV ripped too. I have the speedy and the piping broke through the leather on all four corners.
I am supposed to be taking it in to see what they can do about it.
2.5 years is NOT old.
Keep me updated and I will see what they say about mine.

Re: Louis Vuitton Repairs - Updated below... I'm PO'ed!
Take the bag to the store on 5th. They have an area on the top floor for some repairs they can do in store. if not they will ship it out for you to repair, but it can take couple weeks to get back.
I went there when I had a stain on the canvas and the lady carefully removed it with product(when the LV in bloomies said there wasn't anything they could do) She also "burned" 2 tiny threads that were starting to come loose to prevent it from loosening any further.
I currently have an issue with one of my straps the end inner part has fallen apart and little by little it has torn. its not visible so I havent taken it in to get fixed as of yet, but I'm sure they would have to replace the entire strap.

OMG that's not long at all! Two of my speedies are older than that! Did they say why they think it cracked?

it cracked because i kept that little inside pocket loaded with stuff, coins, papers, etc, and the weight of that pocket made the canvas crack....obv i told them i never put anything in that pocket because i wanted it fixed. and they ended up giving me a new bag, the salesgirl said that the manager must of been in a real good mood that day, to do that.

That is really definitely NOT cool! I have the Cabas Mezzo as well, and with the amount of money that bag cost, I would flip-like you said, the point people like you and myself bought this bag was to carry a ton of stuff in it! So, are we being unreasonable to expect a 1200 dollar bag to hold up I think NOT! I would request to speak with a manager or ask for the district manager's phone number. Good luck!

Oh Okay. Now I feel better. I usually only keep a lip gloss in that pocket.
You were lucky to get a new one!

Re: Louis Vuitton Repairs - Updated below... I'm PO'ed!
dont go to macy's to get it repaired. it takes forever and they have to send it to "corporate" anyway. Go to the store on 5th as the op said. I had a problem with my wallet and I am still waiting for a call back from the lv in macy's on 34, meanwhile I went to the flagship store and I was in and out.

The women at Macy's had no clue what they were talking about... they are re-stitching it for me!

So glad they are fixing it. I dropped mine of at LV in Roosevelt Field -- it is going to take 6-8 weeks but there is no charge. The women there told me it is happening a lot lately with several bags. Think they need to rethink their production!
