babysitter in home
I am expecting my first baby in August and right now checking out day cares and babysitters in my area. I know that both have their pros and cons.
If I do go with a babysitter, do you think it's better to go with one who comes to my own house (so I don't have to worry about getting him dressed and out of the house etc), or is it better to bring the baby to the sitter? If he goes to a sitter then I am thinking, there may be other kids to interact with and also I won't have a stranger in my house..I'm funny about that....
What has your experience been?

Re: babysitter in home
We have a babysitter that comes to our house. I think if you can afford it and find someone it is much easier they come to you. I love not having to wake ds up in the morning to get out of the house and he also has all his own things to play with all day.

Re: babysitter in home
I am currently in the process of becoming certified to run daycare out of my home ( I live OOS ) so I count on moms who are comfortable with bringing their kids elsewhere. But for my own DD, if I needed a sitter, I think I would be more comfortable knowing she's in our home. Each has its pro' and con's I think. You need to weigh them and see which is more your style.
If they go to the sitter: Possibly other children, chance to interact with people other than your family, the mess stays at the sitters! usually a little bit less expensive as well
If the sitter comes to you: Childs 'things' are all on hand, you know your home is to your standards ( safety, cleanliness), you know who comes and goes, no travelling with the kids during cold weather and rainy days.
Good luck!

Re: babysitter in home
My babysitter comes to my home. She is there most days at 8 and 1 day at 7:30 when my DH leaves early for a meeting. I am still getting up at night so I sometimes sleep in the morning-I work from home. It is GREAT especially with 2.

Re: babysitter in home
I have someone come to my house and it is a million times easier for me, even though DD is 2 1/2. We've been like this since day 1. On days I have to get us both out when I take her to school, and I have to catch a train, I;m running around like a madwoman. Now, I get up leisurely and get dressed and eat and my babysitter has to get her dressed and feed her in the morning (since I have already left for work).
Yes, when DD was a baby she didnt get the socialization of lots of kids but now that she's older she goes to school and has lots of playdates.
