Cleaning ladies vs. SAHM
Where do you go when your cleaning lady is at your house?
We have a team of "ladies" that come and they came early today. While they are all upstairs doing the bedrooms, we are all downstairs on the main level. They normally don't come until I am already gone for the day (as is my preference) but they came so early, we didn't get a chance to even get dressed yet!

I hate to be home when the cleaning lady comes, but sometimes I have to be. I do exactly what you are doing...stay on another floor and stay out of the way. I do find however, that she does a better job when I am home, maybe because she knows I'm "watching"

When she's upstairs, I stay downstairs...and vice versa.
But I have had my cleaning lady for over 4 years...we chat, eat lunch together, hang out a little. I don't need to "stay away" from her. I just give her some space so she doesn't have to stay longer than her usual 7 hours.

if we're there and she's there we usually tell her where to start (upstairs vs. downstairs) and we'll migrate to the opposite. Except i hate being upstairs during the day so usually when she is downstairs we'll either go outside or to the park.
But usually we're not there when she comes.

I take Maddie to the gym...by the time we leave and get back they are done with the upstairs...I feed her lunch and put her down for a nap.

Thanks all! We stayed downstairs until they were done in the bedrooms then went upstairs to get dressed. I must have played them very hard because they are both now napping

When I was a SAHM I tried to run errands or in nice weather at least go to the park. I tired to stay out of her way.

I moved up my time so they come earlier now.
When they get here they start upstairs and we are eating breakfast downstairs. I usually grab his clothes, change him, and then we run out to Gymboree class or to do errands while they are cleaning the downstairs.

When we had one I made sure it was during the time of DD's 1st nap...so I would either drive around and/or head to the aquarium where I could spend time there then head back home after she was done.
But now it's me...

Since being home with Samantha on maternity leave, I've been home when the cleaning lady comes since it's during Samantha's naptime. I find my house is ALOT cleaner then when I'm not home. I'm not saying she does a bad job, but I notice she does things that I'm certain she doesn't do when I'm not home.
To answer your question Felice, I do what you did this morning. I just stay in another part of the house until she is ready to move to the part of the house I'm in.

Rob used to evacuate when the cleaning lady came... take the kids to the park or the store or whatever. But now he just goes about his own business and she goes about hers!
