HELP 2 yr old with tooth discoloration?!?! (icky pic included)
so we noticed a few weeks ago that my 2 yr old has 3 teeth with an orange color on it. my ds has recently been awful with letting us brush his teeth but we do the best we can 2 times a day. we use both a regular and battery toothbrushes.
what is this? is it a cavity, plaque...? i'm so scared to bring him to the dentist b/c he has oral sensory issues so he'll go nuts.
he takes zantac with flavoring in it and drinks a pediasure before bed, could it be from that?
what should i do?
sorry if the pic grosses you out but i thoughtit would be helpful to see what i was talking about.
thanks! Image Attachment(s):

I don't know, but I think a dental appt is an order... sorry! I think only a dentist would be able to definitively say what it is, and either get rid of the discoloraton (plaque?) or at least tell you if it's something of concern.

no help here, but a pediatric dentist should be able to help without much upset.

It could just be staining but only on 2 teeth is odd. I would venture to guess without actually feeling with instruments that the teeth are starting to de-calcify and its the start of a cavity-DS had a similar thing-same teeth actually I had them roughed up and sealed as a precaution. The canines will be in his mouth till he is about 10 so I didn't want to chance it getting worse. Seek dental treatment-the sooner you catch it the less traumatic it will be. Good luck!
Ps many meds like asthma meds or allergy meds dry people out and any change in saliva can really affect the mouth. Try to have him drink lots of water if he takes meds.

Caden chipped his 2 front teeth from grinding his teeth. Where his 2 chipped teeth are he has a similar discoloration. At his last ped appointment the ped recommend that I take him tp the dentist to rule out decay....
We have an appointment but we havent taken him yet...

Robbie had the same.. and I was SHOCKED because he was breastfed.. but evidently 'bottle-rot' is kind of a misnomer.
Do you have a pediatric dentist?

Put baking soda on a washcloth - everything comes off the teeth. We do this with my 2 year old from time to time because brushing his teeth is a struggle. His teeth have gotten pretty orange too.

We've just started doing this recently because we notices some staining on DD's upper teeth by the gums. Not orange like that...but there is staining. The baking soda is working WONDERS. Her teeth are super white too!

Did your son have high fevers when he was small?
My sister has something very similar to this on her bottom teeth when she was a child, the dentist said it was bc of high fevers when she was a child, and it caused the tooth to have deficiencies. Her adult teeth are perfectly fine.
Might be related, but I would check with a dentist.

That's TARTAR!
Take a piece of dry guaze or a q tip or even your nail and scratch it off...
My girls get that when they don't brush well..and they've both been to the dentist..it's not a cavity..it's tartar.
