no offense to those who responded this way... (love thread spinoff)
but dont u think that if u say i love you like 5 times a day and the words r just said it sort-of loses the meaning... no offense if that was ur response but i think when its said so often example: b4 bed, when u leave the house, when u hang up the phone, when u drop off the kids, --it sorta takes away from the meaning of the actual words...i think its a lot more special when said once or maybe twice POSSIBLY each day and in situations when ur truly feel like saying

My mother feels like that so she rarely, if ever, says it to us (her children, my dad, etc). I really enjoy hearing the reaffirmation from DH and it still makes me smile inside when he says it. But it is JMO.

hey MVP.
IMO-I say it all the time because I mean what I say. Of course there ate times that I feel it more than others. But I say it because I wantd my DH & my family & friends to know I love them because you never know when that last "I Love You" will be.

If you truly love someone I don't think it will ever lose it's meaning. a couple should say it as often as they like.

I say it with meaning every time...it never has that feeling of a repetitive nature. I an understand your thought process because I have seen it in other couples but it can go either way.

Yes-- this is the way it was in my house growing up as well. My mom or dad rarely if ever told us they loved us. That is also why I love to hear it from DH so much!

Re: no offense to those who responded this way... (love thread spinoff)
I didn't respond to the other thread, but I wanted to answer here.
I feel like we have 2 sets of the "I love yous". The first are the leaving the house, before we go to bed, etc. and the other is when we are in more intimate, emotional or stressful moments.
We say it a lot, and most of those times are the first type, over the phone and before we leave the house. I don't think it loses its meaning, because for me, hearing it takes me out of my day for a minute to re-connect with my DH and realize how much I appreciate him.
The second type don't come as often, so they are even more cherished

Re: no offense to those who responded this way... (love thread spinoff)
I personally an a very passionate person and I say what I feel. Sometimes I say it so much bc i want to make sure he really knows how much i truly adore and love him. its like i cant express it enough. the love i feel cant even be described and my actions and words is all i have.
PS i also come from a large family and we always say I love you.
I also have this fear that i may lose the person i love and i dont ever want to have that feeling or regret that they never knew how much i loved them.

It never gets repetitive for us. Not be morbid, but Sonia is right, you never know when the last I love you will come. i want that to be the last thing i hear on this earth.

Re: no offense to those who responded this way... (love thread spinoff)
good answers girls, trust me im not juding, im def. an "i love you person" b/c i truly believe that ur all correct when u say this could be the last time u tell them you love them.. i was just very curious...
i used to have this boss ( a male) who would answer his phone in the office, and this was his end of the convo...
him: hey baby him: i love you so much him: baby ur so good to me him im so lucky to have you him: what r the kids doing him baby ur the greatest
I SWEAR I WANTED TO KILL HIM OR VOMIT!!!!! SOMETIMES ENUFF IS ENUFF, AND THIS WAS EVERY DAM DAY, I SOMETIMES WONDERED HOW GOOD COULD SHE BE IN BED IF THIS IS HOW HE TALKED TO HER

It doesnt get repeatitive for us. I say it a LOT, I mean like even when Im just leaving the room...LMAO...But its a habit, and sometimes when I hang up the phone or DH leaves in the morning and I forget I feel bad...I wouldnt change the frequency at all

I say I love you whenever I get the urge to say it. I don't think it loses its meaning b/c it cmes from the heart. I don't say it just to say it. I don't think I will ever get tired of hearing DH tell me he loves me.
I grew up in a family that always said I love you to each other. I appreciate it and am glad I have parents who always let me know how much they love me. I plan to do this when DH and I have a family.

my FH feels that way, so he doesn't say it as often... but I tell him that we should let each other know how we feel each time.. after 911, we should never take life for granted.
I mean it everytime I say it.

If you truly love someone I don't think it will ever lose it's meaning. a couple should say it as often as they like.
Exactly my thoughts.

We feel the same way. Also, I never really said it much to anyone I was with before DH. I've never meant it so much before - even as we say it 10 times a day.

That's me! My family was never really big on saying it until my father died. After that, no one left the house without hearing it. That's why I'm like that not just with DH, but my family and my friends. He's just the opposite. It's very rare that I hear him or his family say it to each other.

Absolutely not....
IMO...if there is meaning behind it and the words are meant....NO it doesn't get old....it doesn't lose its meaning. For me it is my daily feel good moment that i need....
