DS seems only to be happy when he is moving around - pushed in a stroller, in the car (starts crying when we are at a red light), bounced, in the swing, etc. Being held isn't even enough anymore. We have to walk and hold him.
Are we spoiling him? DS is getting heavier everyday. I don't know how long I can keep this up. He hates being still! Please tell me it gets easier.

Welcome to taking care of a baby! They love to be rocked, swayed, etc. Once he starts trying to sit up he will probably not want to be held so enjoy it now. It goes quickly

I agree
So do I!
I had to rock my son for the first six months of his life - and he was VERY big. Eventually they don't want to be rocked anymore.

I agree with the ladies. Being that this is my last week of mat leave, I am savoring every second of it

Re: DS CONSTANTLY wants to be in constant movement - held, bounced, swung, pushed, etc. When will it stop? Ever?
Ugh this could have been my post months ago about ds!!!!
My son was/is the same way!!!!
He always napped in his swing or rocker (that vibrated) for the first few months of his life. Then he stopped wanting to nap in the swing. Then we had to walk around the house bouncing him to sleep. At first it took a few minutes and then it turned into 20-30 minutes each time and it was exhausting. I felt like the whole day was spent bouncing him to sleep.
I cannot tell you how many red lights and stop signs i went flying through! I drove like a bat out of h*ll most days because if you stopped in the slightest way... he'd scream bloody murder. I would often drive on the side of the road... you know... where all the bumps are because it meant he wouldn't cry if we weren't going fast enough. It was crazy. I even got pulled over a few times for speeding or illegal passing someone who was driving ridiculously slow (luckily i know a few cops ). I just couldn't take the screaming anymore.
Going into stores... you had to push Jacen in the stroller nonstop. You couldn't stop at all or he'd cry. It was constant motion or he'd cry.
i wish i had a better answer for you, but it took months to get better. It wasn't really until we turned the convertible car seat front facing that he gaves us a break. For 11 months, he cried in his car seat probably 1 out of 3 times he was in it. Sometimes it helped if someone was in the back seat with him. We also have a personalized cd that he seems to like and will sometimes quiet down when it's on.
The bouncing to get him to go to sleep... at 5 1/2 months old we did CIO for naps because it was too exhausting. The stroller... well we still move him around when out in it and he'll be a year old in a few weeks.
It's tough, i know. I didn't think i'd survive that whole period. It was exhausting. It will get better, but unfortunately it's going to take time.

This was DS, and still is, though now he is 18 months and can do a lot of moving on his own!

That is what I am afraid of! This old mommy can't keep up.

Exactly! Just like Diana, I too had a very large child. I looked at it like exercise. Once he stopped wanting to be rocked all the time, I started gaining weight again.

Well, I have lost 5 pounds since he started walking, so that's a benefit!
It IS exhausting, but I am one old mommy too, and so far I'm keeping up pretty well.
