House Hunting w/ or w/o DH?
Do/ Did all your ladies go house hunting with your DH? Mine has been working ALOT lately so we haven't be able to see as many as I would like and I was thinking of going house hunting on my own...and if i found something I liked to go back with him. What have you guys done?

We house hunted together for EVERY excursion EXCEPT for one. I went with our realtor and saw 4 or 5 houses - I LOVED one of them, DH went back with me the same night to see it and we are purchasing that home

When I was house hunting, I went by myself and if i found something I liked I would call DH to meet me or schedule another appointment

If we were going to see something with the realtor we always went together, there were a few open houses that i wanted to go to, that he wasnt able to go to, so either i went by myself, or with my dad to check it out.

I went to a bunch on my own if it was something I thought DH would like I would take him back. He also did the same went to check out houses and if he liked it he took me back. But our house that we bought we went to see together

We did that. I went to about a 1000 open houses. I actually never even saw anything worth bringing him back to.

Once we decided on an area, I shopped alone or with my mom. Anything worthwhile I brought my husband back to see. In his words, "would we ever buy a house you didn't like?"

We looked together but there was one open house I wnet to with my best friend b/c my DH was snowboarding. I fell in love!!! I made another appointment to see it with DH.
and we bought it

Wow...ok so a few of you found your home looking alone..lol maybe thats a good sign and maybe i'll find something this weekend. lol well since DH will be working I might as well go and see what's out there! Thanks!

Our intentions were to go together but his job sent him OOT for three weeks right in the middle of house hunting so I continued to look myself.
I happened to fall in love with a house while he was away. I sent him as many pictures as I could but no matter how many I sent, its was still impossible to picture the layout.
In the end I begged and he gave in. I bought the house to him sight unseen. Signed the contract and all so once he got back, there was no turning back.
I think at first he resented the house & me for not being able to be a part of the decision process. He acted like it wasn't up to par with his standards when he knew it was everything we were looking for. After we closed, he was stoked and never complained again about it.

For the most part I did everything with him however there was 1 house that i went to alone because DH was working and he wanted me to see it first. If i liked it we would have both gone back that evening. DH went to 1 or 2 without me 2 on his day off. We ended up buying new construction on a house that we looked at together

We went together except for 1 house b/c DS had a 104 fever and it was pouring outside so DH went ahead on his own.
If his schedule is becoming prohibitive to you seeing what you want then I'd go for it on my own and bring him back if it's something you'd like but we both saw different things (both vices and virtues) and it was important to us that we do it together.

nope no point for us. but if your dh trusts your opinion then deff. go for it. It would be easier sometimes because I rather him stay at work - earn overtime then take him away from it to look at houses we might not like.
Then again so far there hasn't been a house in three weeks that we haven't put a offer on and got rejected LoL

We always went together. Whether it was with the REA or just to open houses. But I see no reason not to go by yourself and if you find something you love, have your DH go back with you.

how about none of us going?
my dad & sis went once for us but we ended up not liking the place in the pics and my dad and sis weren't crazy about it and today my mom & sis are going for us to check something out as "back up" in case we don't get the house we put an offer on
everything else we've seen together...
DH needs me there - he could never go alone - he doesn't know how to see "potential" in things - if a house isn't decorated nice he can't look past it and see how "we" could make it look....i on the other hand can make almost any house look nice in my head so we balance eachother out..

We always went together except one time..DH stopped by an open house on his own. He looked around and called me to meet him there right away. I couldnt get there until about a half hour after the open house was supposed to end. He told the agent that he KNEW his wife would be interested so would she wait? She did and it ended up being the house we bought!
