Not to sound naive, but what is CIO anyway?
People are always posting about it, but I'm not sure I know what it means, or what to do. I hope this isn't a dumb question. I know, I know, there is no such thing as a dumb question.

to "teach" a baby to sleep on their own. If you always run in every time they make a peep - they learn that you will always come. When you let them CIO for awhile...they condition themselves to soothe back to sleep on their own w/o your assistance all of the time. A lot of women on here have had success and their DC sleeps through the night after implenting CIO - there are a lot of parenting books that have different CIO techniques.
Cant think of the names of them off hand but Im sure someone can help us with that

Thank you. I thought it was something like that. I'm either lucky, or haven't gotten to that stage of the game yet with DC. So Thank you for your understanding.

DD was a great sleeper til she hit 12 mths...then I had to do CIO - it took 4 nights and she was back to being a good sleeper. thank goodness.
