I feel HORRIBLE.
I was driving DS to daycare this morning and a squirrel ran right in front of my car and I ran him over.  
Poor little thing came out so fast I had no time to swirve or slam on the brakes to avoid him.
I am a murderer!

awww..its ok.
a few weeks ago we had bunnies in our backyard bushes. well we had the bushes removed and the tree guy caught one of the little ones. i was so sad.
dh makes fun of me and says im a bunny killer

It's happened to me too.
Just think that if you had swerved or slammed on the brakes you might have hurt Lucas or baby to be.
Squirrel definitly ranks 3rd in that equation.

it's happened to me, and i felt horrible
i think it's more important that the humans inside the vehicle are safe. i hope you can start to feel better about it soon.

Even if you had the time to swerve or slam on the brakes, you should never do it. I know of so many people that have gotten in to accidents because of squirrels. I know you feel bad, but its ok

Awww don't worry!!! He was a kamikaze squirrel. I agree with the other posters, it could have been worse if you had done a short stop and there could have been someone behind you.

Here's something interesting.
When I went back later in the day to pick DS up from daycare, there was no dead squirrel carcass where I thought I ran him over. 
So either I didn't actually kill him, or someone made off with a tasty treat of road kill! 
Either way, I didn't have to see the dead body!

No, you're not! It was an accident. You didn't have a chance to avoid it if it came out of nowhere in a split second.
It was better to hit IT than a tree or, worse, a pedestrian.
Wild animals become roadkill every day. I see dozens while driving along country roads. The craziest ever for me and some traveling companions of ours happened back in January when a bird flew out of the night and into the grille.
We discovered it at a rest stop, just a clump of feathers sticking out!  What a shocker that was!

The fact that you feel bad about it makes you a good person. So many people are apathetic when it comes to animals. This was an accident...you couldn't help it.

I had a bio teacher that would pick up non-flattened road kill and recreate their skeletns in the display case!
