Our Landscaping Before & After
October 2006- just so you have an idea of how far we've come. Doing stuff to the outside of your home is SO freakin $$$$ so we've been DIY!

TODAY
We still have to work on the wall landscaping but we have a LOT of weeds/bushes to still pull out

Our Japanese Maple...the only good thing that came with the outside of our house lol. We've tried planting flowers there two years in a row but the soil sucks in huntington plus the tree roots are ridiculous.

The soil you can fix with a little patience and a lot of compost. But I agree, planting underneath a tree is a problem. Most trees are water hogs and suck all of the moisture right out of the dirt. What about some pretty container plantings that you could swap out each year?
All I have in my shade garden is hosta, ferns, and heuchera.

You guys did an incredible job!! It looks fantastic.
I just planted hosta in our front yard, too. It's not that expensive and i hear it's really durable.
