I'm house hunting. My ideal places to live are Floral park, Franklin square, or garden city south. I'm lookin to spend b/w 400-500. Please recommend another area in nassau county that is somewhat a convient location to either highways or local roads to queens and dh works in manhattan. We would like to stay near this area but i have not found a house in all three of these areas that im in love with. any other areas that im missing that falls b/w our price range...thank u!!

school district is very important to us since we are starting a family in the near future :)

Re: recommend your area!!

We're in the Gibson section of Valley Stream / North Woodmere. We have Hewlett-Woodmere schools, easy access to the train station (walking distance from our house), easy access to the Southern State and CIP - beautiful homes (we are in the tudor section Chat Icon ), good local shopping, quiet area.

Lynbrook, specifically Lynbrook North/Westwood.

Central to SSP, Sunrise and Merrick Road. Local shopping nearby and easy access to malls. A real family community (everyone on my block talks, hangs out, etc) and excellent schools. We love it here.

little bit farther out but we are in Massapequa Park and we LOOOOOVE it!
I work in queens and DH works in the city so we are in the same boat. It's a wonderful school district too!
There is actually a really cute house for sale a few blocks from me too!

I'm in the same situation. i am probably going to have to drive to CT to work so i'm trying to stay in the Floral park, NHP, Williston pk areas and I just cannot find anything that we like that is our budget that doesn't need $100k worth of work.

You can do Merrick 40 minute commute to city, close to pkwys.. Oceanside and Rvc both have good sds, you can do 5 town, hewlett- cedahurst.

North Shore Williston Park, but $$$.

DH and I love Lynbrook. The schools are really good and it takes about 35 mins by LIRR to Penn Station. The commute to Brooklyn or Queens isn't bad either- DH does it everyday. Other areas we liked were RVC and Hewlett, but it just so happened that we found our favorite house in Lynbrook.

Lynbrook, Oceanside & Rockville Centre with Oceanside schools (always seemed more affordable by a bit compared to RVC with RVC schools).

I live in Floral Park and LOVE IT! My daughter and I just marched in the town's Memorial Day parade yesterday - the town is like a Norman Rockwell painting of small town americana.

If you are looking for a realtor - we used Kathy Tyrrell of Abbot Manor Realty - she's FANTASTIC.

We really wanted a tudor in the West End section of town, and she found us one.

The prices have come down - where you might have paid $580,000 a year ago - it's now around $480,000 or so. A lot of the houses were built in the 1930s so if it's priced in the $400,000's - chances are it will still need work.

But if you have any questions about FP - just FM me - we love it here.

Re: recommend your area!!

I grew up in Lynbrook - It is a great town. The 2 only complaints are that it is an incorporated village and there are a lot of rules. Also you cannot park on the street between 3 and 5 am.

Oceanside is a great town

Merrick

Bellmore

Wantagh

Seaford

Massapequa

All easy access to the LIRR, southern state, wantagh parkway, meadow brook, seaford oyster bay, Merrick road and Sunrise Hwy.

Re: recommend your area!!

I moved to Wantagh (Seaford school district) last summer from Bay Ridge, Brooklyn and I love it here! Love the proximity to the beach, shopping, highways and the LIRR. I have 3 kids and there's sooo much for them to do out here as far as parks, pools, sports, etc.
