Personally, yes, I think so. DH will say that to me and I to him, but we both will respond with "No, we are buying this together, we both have to like it!" and those are just for little things, not big things like a house. If he is being unreasonable constantly, then I think you guys need to have a talk about important things and non-important things about a house. Good luck!

BAD IDEA!!! Do not buy a house that both of you do not love...if you buy a house that he doesnt like then everytime there is an issue he will feel resentment towards you because you picked it. It needs to be a mutual decision. I know he is frustrated but its a big decision and he needs to be a part of it. Eventually he needs to understand that his ideas are unrealistic and that right now you have to do what you can afford.

Sounds like his reply is out of anguish and frustration....I can certainly relate since we have been looking at houses as well.....I just have to remind myself that my house is out there. Just like I had to kiss a lot of frogs till I met my prince, I have to go to a lot of open houses!

Tell him that this is what you guys can afford, and he needs to get used to the idea that the houses you are looking at are houses in your price range.

You need to look beyond the house, and think of what you can make the house to be for you both.

Unless you can afford a million dollar house with huge property, he needs to be realistic.

Yes I think it's a terrible idea because then he can always say "well you picked the house"...whenever something comes up.

I think as a married couple choosing your home should be something you do together and both agree on.

Definately bad idea! My DH and I have been house hunting in the worst housing market in the country here in CA. We have yet to see more than one house that we both loved. But we are narrowing down what we want and will except in a house. I think you need to be patient. My DH is just as picky but slowly has adjusted what he wants to the market and what we can afford. It will happen- be patient.

You should both be in it together. Sit down and figure out what is the most important to you both in terms of a house. Then let the real estate agent know what will, and what will not, work for you.

Awwwww no its best if you both agree of course. Maybe take a little break from house hunting, then sit down and really decide realistically want you both want and can afford. Good luck!Chat Icon Chat Icon
