I'm pretty sure at this young of an age Solids is still just practice... It's not really suppose to replace calories until they are older.

Is there a reason why you are concerned with the amount of ounces she is taking in?

Re: spinoff to baby food question

unless your her Ped was concerned about her weight/formula intake and specifically said he wants her to cut down, then there is no reason for her formula intake to decrease. Baby food is not suppose to replace formula. Is there a reason why you want her to reduce formula intake?

she's gaining weight pretty quickly, granted she is very long, and is the 95% percentile for both height and weight, but just hearing the majority of babies cut down on formula and DD hasn't....

Re: spinoff to baby food question

It took forever for my son to begin decreasing his formula. At times, he was eating solids 3 times a day and still drinking 35 to 40ozs. The Ped told me to increase his food intake. At times this kid will eat 3 jars of food at a sitting with cerealChat Icon . He only recently started about btw 23-28ozs per day after I increased his food, gave him snacks and juice during the day. This kid is a food machine...and decreasing in his percentiles for weight gain....Chat Icon

Is her Ped worried about her fast weight gain? Every baby is on there own growth curve, if she has remained on the same curve from birth (without any huge change) then I wouldn't worry about it. Her weight gain will naturally slow down when she stars walking and is more active. If her Ped wants to drop her intake then he should have tips on how to do so. I wouldn't try to drop intake without the Ped advising me to do so.
