anyone preg. girls with heart disease?
I'm getting tests done for some possible arrythmias. I would like to get PG this year, but I'm scared it will really set off a whole host of problems... anyone have some advice?

Re: anyone preg. girls with heart disease?
Your heart definitely has to work harder when you're pregnant but many women with cardiac problems have gone on to have healthy babies with minimum to no complications but every person and condition is different. You should bring your concerns up to your cardiologist as well as your OB. If you do get the green light expect to be considered a high risk patient and be followed more closely then your average pregnant woman. Best of luck to you.

Re: anyone preg. girls with heart disease?
I have arrhythmia (SVT), but not a dangerous type. I have seen the cardiologist a few times, but have not had any problems at all with being pregnant, and I will be delivering in a few weeks.

Re: anyone preg. girls with heart disease?
I was diagnosed during pregnancy with one of the least dangerous arrhythmias. I had to go on a medication that actually would have been safer if I had started it before pregnancy. I didn't have symptoms until I was pregnant, though. The scariest part is not knowing what you have .

Re: anyone preg. girls with heart disease?
Im 25 and see a high-risk OB (and a regular OB/Gyn) for some congenital heart defects. I have a PFO, and a bicuspid aortic valve with an "eccentric jet" from the valve leading into my aorta at the root. Sounds scarier than it is right now, but I'm being monitored closely because both my father and grandfather died from related and/or the same thing. The only real reason my issues, and cardiac issues are such a big deal is the risk of complications with the increased blood volume and the possibility of high blood pressure.
If you want to see a high-risk just ask your regular OB! I'm sure they can give you the name of a great periantologist. Better safe than sorry! (although sometimes they drive me nuts! )

Would you mind sending me the name of your high risk? Thanks so much!

The way I understand it is that it is not necessary to see a high risk doctor until you get pregnant, unless your regular OB is a high risk doctor as well. You are not pregnant yet, right?

I'm not preg. yet, but was hoping to be. Just waiting on some answers with all of this. I know I def. have PVCs - premature vent.contractions...I need to go to an electrophys. to see the extent and cause.

I think that if you are happy with your OB, then discuss all this with him. He should point you in the right direction.
