If heels are too high

I found a pair of shoes I love but the only problem is the heel is too high. Is it possible to get them cut down or does that ruin the shoe? Anyone know or try it?

Re: If heels are too high

There have been girls on here who've done it. I would take it to a shoe repair place and have them take a look to see what they can do.

My regular "shoe-guy" says you can usually cut off up to a 1/2 inch on high heels. More than that and it ruins the integrity of the shoe. I am probably going to take a couple of too-high heels to him to have it done.

Re: If heels are too high

I have heard of a few people on here doing that..

But I honestly just don't get it..

How would the shoes still look normal..? Chat Icon and how would they not kind of "tilt" back? Chat Icon

I got the heels on my boots cut down a few months ago. the shoe repair guy told me I couldn't cut off much, he took off a little under 1/2 an inch, but it was enough to make them comfortable to walk in vs. too high for work (where I do quite a bit of walking)

I take it they did not look weird? I ask because I have been looking for a nude shoe for months and every pair I love is too high for me and I am commuting now.

If done properly no it will not make the shoe look or sit weird. But again usually no more then 1/2" can be taken from MOST shoes.

they don't look or feel weird at all. no one would ever be able to tell that the heels were cut down.

but again, they were only cut about 1/2 an inch, maybe less.

Yes absolutely I do it all the time.. My guy does it great.. Tony's in Lynbrook on Atlantic Ave.. Not every pair can be done.. He did refuse a pair of CL's one time Chat Icon.. So I can only wear them to Restraunts and back to the car.. No real walking..

Exactly. My shoe repair shop has done it for me a few times as well and the shoes came out great. You couldn't even tell.
