right - as with EVERYTHING - the second you take them out of whatever (sterilizer, boiling water, etc.) - they are no longer sterile.

Don't worry -- we all do! It's always easier to give good advice to others but when it comes to ourselves we all get nervous and freak out!! Chat Icon Chat Icon You must be so excited!!

Re: sterilize pacifiers

Do yourself a favor and take the pacifiers from the hospital!!! When you leave, ask if you can have a couple of extras. I still have 2 in the sterile bags from the hospital. These are the only pacifiers DD will suck on (she's 7 weeks). Your baby may not even take to the paci. Mine isn't huge on it, she sucks for a couple of minutes then out it goes.

I agree. DS didnt like the pacifier until he was around 4mths old. Take them from the hospital if you need them other then that dont stress over it. Chat Icon

DC may also not like the particular pacis that you bought. Sometimes they only like a certain type, and you have to try a few types to find that out, so taking some from the hospital is a good thing. Those may be the one DC likes best. Chat Icon Chat Icon

Isn't it 'unsterile' the minute you touch it or put it in a bag or whatever ?

But those crazy things fall out of kids' mouths all the time ..........
If you just sterilize it before the FIRST time you use it -
Ok ...........but EVERY time ??? How is the even possible?

You just mean just putting them in boiling water for a little or do you throw them in the dishwasher and put "sterilizer?"

You can do either.... I personally felt better with throwing it into the pot of water.
