I had them done.
I had them the same day as the ceremony. We did the pictures in the morning - 11:00 a.m. and the church at 2:00 p.m. the week later was the party.
We couldn't schedule the church and the party the same day 'cause of scheduling conflicts with each place.

I brought the kids to picture people the week after the christening, i used the pic for their thank you cards.

I didn't.
If you're looking for input....I'd have them done before. The day of the Christening the gown/suit can get wrecked.

I had them done only because I was getting her 8 month pics taken at the time so I figured why not. They turned out to be some of my favorite pics of DD!
These are from Kiddie Kandids - Ooops, sorry they are so big!!

We did them right after his baptism. He was baptized in March so we combined them with his Easter pics so it all worked out.

the hospital that took DS's first photo gave us a "free" photo shoots. we used this opportunity (they came to us) to have baptism pics taken. we just had to pay for pics we chose, not the sitting fee. we took them prior to DS's actual baptism

nope, we didn't... it wouldn't have worked anyway. He was VERY upset with all of the activities that day.
So, the next day, we re-dressed him and took a few pictures.... it worked out well. We used this photo for the thank you cards....

for both DD's I took a pic for the favors to place in coasters and frames and then hired a photographer to take pics at home getting ready, at church and at hall with family.

I didn't do them for my DS or my DD. I took a million pictures the day of the christening. Then I also took pictures of them a few days after the christening. They came out great. I used the pictures I took after the christening for their thank yous.

We took our own pics, figured they were more natural looking. Ours was in Late August so we had beautiful weather and flowers as great scenery.
