Teething at 2 Months? Possible?

My DS seems more fussy lately and cries for no reason. He's salivating more and sometimes he puts his fists in his mouth. He also chomps on my pinkie when I do the finger test to see if he's hungry.

The doctor thinks he may be teething already. Is this possible?

It is not common but certainly possible.
On a funny side note, I said my DD was teething from the time she was 2-3 months old(I swore it). Month after month I kept saying it and she did not get her 1st tooth until she was 14 months(very late). It was funny because around 9 months, I said, oh forget it obviously this kid does not have any teeth.Chat Icon

these things are totally normal even when they aren't teething! I see so many people post this month after month, so it seems to happen to most babies. My girls didn't drool but they put everything in their mouth at that age(and still do at 1 year old and 2 1/2 years old).

But yes it can be teething. My first DD cut 2 teeth right after she turned 3 months old.

Amanda is right, I am pretty sure baby's salavary (sp?) start to really "work" around this age too.

My DS was an early teether as well.

Thanks everyone... I'll keep an eye on other symptoms but for now I gave DS some tylenol and he's sleeping well now.

my DS started to teeth at 3 months. Ped even said so. sure enough at 4 months to the day, his firth tooth showed up. then they kept coming, 16 at 1 year, and all 20 but 18.5 months. now at age 6.. he's already lost 5 teeth and gotten his 6 year molars in.

his baby sister had her 1st tooth at 4.5 months. early teeting is definitely possible.
