Anyone else's toddler take an hour to fall asleep?
For the last week or so, DD (20 mos.) has been taking about an hour to fall asleep at night.
I usually put her in around 7:30 and she plays around and talks for an hour or more before falling asleep. She's happy, doesn't usually cry, and eventually goes off to sleep.
Does this mean I am putting her in too early? (she *seems* tired when I put her in the crib!)

DS does this every night. We put him in his crib around 7:30 and he usually plays/sings/talks for over an hour. In fact, I still hear him now. He never cries or anything and I think it is good for him to unwind. It's really fun to listen to him!

Sometimes Jack will go to sleep right away, other times it can take up to an hour for him to unwind. I think it's just what type of mood he's in. I think since she's not crying you are putting her in at the right time!

Its so weird to me when I hear about little ones in their cribs playing, talking... with my dd if she isnt asleep, she is crying or screaming in there. I have never seen my dd in the crib happy!

Every night for probably the last year or so. I notice if he naps really well then it takes longer if not then he out almost immediately. He just hangs out and talks to his trains and bears. I don't think it means you are putting her down to early. DS does this regardless of what time I put him down. Like I mentioned earlier, I notice the biggest difference in when he has a nap or not.

Matty does this sometimes. He lines up all his little animals in his bed and kisses each one:). Then he talks to his glow worm for a while and eventually drifts off to sleep! I think they are just unwinding from the day!

Yes, although it varies for my DD. One night it might take 20 minutes and other nights it could take an hour. She is in a toddler bed but still has the aquarium hanging in there. She will keep turning it on as long as she is awake.....needless to say....we go through a ton of batteries.

Gracie does this sometimes at nap time; she'll talk/sing or play with her animals. At nighttime she generally goes to sleep right away.
