22 months...do you still feed your DC some foods?

DS is pretty good at using a fork, but still has a problem with the spoon. Sometimes, actually most times, he puts the spoon in right to get yogurt or mac and cheese, but than flips it back upside down before it gets to his mouth so I still feed him his yogurt, mac and cheese and spaghetti most of the time Chat Icon Should I just be letting him do it on his own now or do you till feed your DC some foods at this age?

haha if i try to feed dd i hear "I Do!" so I've given up on it..for the most part she is pretty neat, but I definitely cringe sometimes when she feeds herself with the mess that could be created lol.

same here. DD has been feeding herself since DS was born (she was 18 months.) She's resorted back to hands lately though....it's more like playing than eating these daysChat Icon

No. He won't let us feed him anything.

He will let my mom feed him ice cream, but if he is with me or DH, he wants to do it himselfChat Icon

Not a chance! She will not allow us to feed her, or help her with her eating. We learned not to mess with Lily when it comes to her food. Chat Icon

I feed her messy stuff and she lets me. She feeds herself some but not all of the time.

Re: 22 months...do you still feed your DC some foods?

I feed her most of the time because she refuses to sit at the table the last few months so I end up following her around the house. BAD habit!!!!

But when she uses utensils it's very messy and she ends up ditching it and using her hands and she is 2!

I'm too crazy when it comes to the messy stuff so I feed him that. I do try to let him feed himself things that won't get all over him and everything around him.

Brooke is only 16 months old and she feeds herself and has since before her first birthday. She is no longer messy either.

Just let him do it. The only way he can learn is by tryingChat Icon

I TRY to feed DS but when he does eat he likes to do it himself....as mommy cringes at the sight of milk and cheerios falling over the floor

At 18 months DD feeds herself a lot, especially the finger foods. She just started getting the idea of the spoon and fork maybe a month ago. She is not great at it, but getting better. We are going to back off more and brave the mess.

i still feed DS his yogurt and other really messy things. he likes to eat by himself with his fork (although he mostly uses his hands)

I let him use the spoon but nothing ever makes its way into his mouth, so we kind of do it together

My dd is almost 18 months and insists on feeding herself everything. I let her and she is a huge mess by the end. Occasionally she asks for help getting the yogurt out of the bottom of the container. I help her out with that, but nothing more.

Re: 22 months...do you still feed your DC some foods?

DD is almost 2.5 and sometime she will give me the spoon and say "mommy help you" which means she wants help. But...she HATES to get dirty when eating...maybe I caused that when she was an infant and I wiped her face after every bite of something messy becauase I hate mess Chat Icon

Re: 22 months...do you still feed your DC some foods?

DD is 14 months and does that. To alleviate the problem I give her a spoon to "eat" with, and feed her the messy food.
