I think there are certain boards that are meant to share more, I am on the Infertility Board the most. We share ALOT, but it's the nature of the board. You can share whatever's comfortable with you, but if it's appropriate to the board, I think it's ok.

ITA. On the flip side, it's one of the few things I dislike about this format, that anyone can go onto any board and just lurk and read about things of little or no interest to them for "amusement" purposes. But, guess that is the nature of the internet/public forum beast!! Chat Icon

Ahh, I'm totally guilty of it (past and present). Does it bother me? Nope. Sometimes I find the context of some posts to be a little "off" but I'm sure it's all about perception. If it bothers me/affects me, I just move on. Except for yesterday where I sort of lost my cool with a particular post.

Who is anyone to judge what anyone else posts on here. If you find it TMI or whatever, than don't resond. IDK, I just feel that who is anyone to judge? This is an open forum and people can post what they like, whether it be for advice, sharing good or bad info, etc... JMHO

hah?Chat Icon Chat Icon I am confused. I am sorry, but where did I or anyone judge anyone on this thread? I didn't point out which threads/posts I was talking about and I am not going to even though few people are curious and have asked me to . It was just something I observed and wanted to get opinions on it . How is that judging anyone? It's not like I pointed fingers at anyone or anythingChat Icon
I always avoid drama on here and I don't like it when people try to start one or turn an innocent post into a drama. That was not my intention.

I think 1sttimemom was referring to the fact that someone DID point out a particular thread and DID "point fingers at someone". She could've just agreed and moved on rather than have the OP of that thread feel bad or embarrassed.

Having said that, I do agree that people post WAY TMI

I guess no one has had a conversation in real life where someone has told you something and you've said "TMI"? Chat Icon Chat Icon If someone said that to me, I wouldn't be the least bit offended or "embarrased", but I digress Chat Icon

Re: Do you sometimes feel that some people post waaay TMI on here?

I think it's relative. Everyone has their threshold for what they feel is "TMI" and I think that varies person by person.

Normally I don't think I share too much but there have been certain occasions where I know I've put stuff out there about myself (any myself only) that is way more than other people would. But at that time I felt it was necessary and I don't regret it b/c it was what *I* deemed to be the right thing and wasn't worried about the TMI factor.

ETA: I can think of one specific time that I put something very personal out here on the boards about myself that I'm sure I heard a collective *gasp* as the thread was read and I received a LOT of FMs from others commending me for exposing what I had done. A lot of the FMs said that they had been in my position too at some point in their lives and that while they didn't want to comment publically they wanted me to know personally.

I think that's a prime example of what I'm talking about with everyone's threshold for the TMI factor.

my goodness I didn't realize this thread was still goingChat Icon Have been out all day.
I JUST WANT TO CLARIFY AGAIN : in my OP I was not talking about one particular thread, I was talking in general. Once again I am not naming names or threads, it was just a GENERAL OBSERVATION and JMO. And yes I understand that just bc something is TMI for me it's not necessarily TMI for everyone else.
