What is up with him?!?!? A few questions
Ok, so Anthony was sick a few weeks ago and not eating very well at all. He only gained 2 oz in 3 weeks. Since he started feeling better, it was like he was trying to make up for lost food. Norm before cold was 6 oz every 4 hrs. Then after cold (right about the same time he turned 4 mos) he was taking 7-8 oz ever 3 - 31/2 hrs and a 10 oz bottle at night. I also put cereal in all of his bottles. Now for the past three days, it is a struggle to get him to take 4-5 oz every 4-5hrs. What gives???
Not sure if this is related:
he has been "teething" (per the ped) for a month now, but I see no signs of teeth.
Also, I caught him yanking on his right ear 2x in the past 2 days. I don't think his ears hurt becuse he was grabbing the top of them, he doesn't seem to be in any pain. Can it be teething also, or maybe he just discovered them??

Re: What is up with him?!?!? A few questions
My DD always pulls her ears almost as a soothing mechanism, so for us its not a sign that something is wrong. Plus her feeding has been all over the place since she was 4 1/2 months. With her bottles she sometimes eats like crazy and then at other times its a struggle to get her to finish her bottle. I would take your DC to the ped if the ear thing is new. That coupled with the eating change could signal that his ear is bothering him.

Pain in the ear could be caused by teething...also, the not eating could be caused by teething. Does he have a fever?

No, no fever. He seems a *tiny bit warm, but when I take his temp, it is normal.

Charlotte was "pre-teething" for 1.5 months before she cut her first 2 teeth. Her eating was unpredictable as was her sleep (well, still is since she's still teething - almost 6 teeth in 8wks ).

It could be teething....Christopher was an early teether (his first tooth at 4.5 months and he had all by 18 months, including his 2 year molars) and he always ate less b/c of it.
He could also have gone through a growth spurt, which was why he wanted to eat more after the cold, you know?

Re: What is up with him?!?!? A few questions
I think I blame teething for everything. I was convinced Ryan was teething at 3 months and everyone except the ped. told me I was crazy. Sure enough he cut 2 teeth a month and half later.
I wouldn't stress too much over it. Sometimes babies also just want to show who's boss

I would make an appt with the ped to do a weight check, look at his ears, and let them look at his gums. I am sure he's fine, but you don't know what's going on, and you seem a bit concerned so I think you should go.
