Newborn sizes.. Wash or not wash now?

So DH just came home from work and has a bunch of gifts here. I am sooo thankful for how generous people have been. My question is we recieved a lot of newborn size clothes.. should i wash them now or leave tags on and wait and see if it fits when we get home from the hosp. i have already washed some newborn onsies and one or 2 outfits i think already from my shower originally. Just curious. The outfits are adorable thought and i would hate to return them!

That was the issue I ran into. I would suggest to wash a few and wait on the others. DS was 7lbs 8oz when born but the doctor was worried he was going to be bigger. I delivered 2 weeks early. If he was bigger he may not have fit into the newborn stuff. Within a month he had grown out of NB clothes.

I would wash and keep a few, then keep the tags on the rest.

It depends on the size of the baby at birth my goddaughter was 6 lbs 12 oz at birth and now is 3 months and around 12 lbs. My friend just put away her newborn stuff.

Some people barely use newborn clothes at all. I would wash a few things and now all. Then once you deliver you could have someone wash more for you if needed.

That was all DS would fit into when he came home from the hospital and for the first 2-3 weeks. The 0-3 were HUGE on him. He was 6lbs 8oz at birth.

I would def wash some and then see when DC is born about the rest.

Andrew was tiny when he was born and we had to get preemie clothes for him and then he was in newborn clothes for a few months.

My DD was 9lbs 13oz at birth , shes almost 3 weeks now and still is fitting in NB ( especially things w/out feet) She is one of those babies that springs her little legs up like a frog Chat Icon , so some of her 0-3 stuff she gets a little lost in, believe it or not and she's a chub-a-lub...So I would definately wash some things to get you started, and then wash as you go Chat Icon

I would wash some. DD was 7lbs 7oz at birth and there is no way 0-3 fit her for at least a month. Even at 1 month a lot of the 0-3 was too big. She got a good 6 weeks out of her newborn stuff and was gaining wait very well. At one month, she was 9lbs 6oz. Also, remember they tend to lose some weight in the hospital if you are breastfeeding. She was 6lbs 12oz when we left the hospital.

Ashley was 8 lb 7 oz and now she's over a month old and still wearing newborn clothing. The Carter's newborn still fit great!

I agree... my daughter was 6lbs 2oz at birth, and came home at 5lbs 13oz.... the NB stuff was ALL she fit into.... I really should have gone out and gotten her preemie stuff so that she could have fit into clothing! Her 0-3's she didn't really fit into til she was about 2 months old!
