Decsions, decisions!
OK- so starting in January Ryan started to spit up, often, after most of his feedings...
Ive brought him to the DR several times, thinking it was AR. My ped. dosent think this is the problem at all! He's not in pain while eating or burping, he dosent mind laying flat, he's gaining weight beautifully, and it dosent happen after EVERY feeding... ( I guess all signs of AR)
He suggested thicken his formula with cereal (but Im not even gonna go the route... I KNOW it works... but he already gets cereal 3x's a day...I dont wanna him feeling even more full and eating less formula, and I just dont want the hassle of trying to get the cereal through the nipple) He suggested burping more frequently... like every oz .... This works, however he hates taking that break from eating! He also thinks Ryan eats way to fast... that he's gulping his food (10min to a 6-7oz bottle...w/ burping while feeding)
Anyways- I went to level 2 nipples since he was 1.5 months, because he was a lazy s u cker and was falling asleep from s ucking so hard....Well someone (i think you, danielle) suggested going back to level one nipples...now that he knows how to s u ck... So tonight i tried... NO SPIT UP AT ALL.... but he still looked like he was falling asleep while eating.... Im gonna try this all day tomorrow (maybe he was just tired during that time)
My question is this.... what should I do? Even though hes getting exhausted at the level one...should I stick with them... Or go back to the level 2, and hope the frequent spit up, stops??? Does anyone have any other suggetions?

Re: Decsions, decisions!
Now that he is older, maybe he wont fall asleep while eating. Like you said, try it, it can't hurt.

I did try it... and it worked... BUT he was looking exhausted again...
I just need to figure out if it was from s u cking or just cuz he was tired...

Re: Decsions, decisions!
I just started giving Talia level 2's at certain times (when the bottles took longer) and stick to level 1's when she tends to eat faster (thanks to a suggestion from a friend) - maybe you can alternate when you use them according to how he reacts?

Re: Decsions, decisions!
I don't know much about your son but i'm assuming her may have acid reflux?
Joey has acid reflux and we went through the SAME exact thing. We saw a few Dr's about this because the spitting up was out of control.
We never went back in nipple size, but we did add some cerial to each bottle (just a very small amount).
Propped up his mattress on an incline (the side where his head was). We just put some towels under the mattress and give his head a little incline but not much.
Keep him in the upright postion for at least 20n minutes after every feeding.
As my son got older (he's now almost 7 months), every month they added more baby food to his diet and that helped MAJORLY!! The formula was just too light in his stomach to stay down. They also wanted me to burp him more frequently but he would just frea out to much and get his stomach in knot over it. Everything else that I listed here, really worked wonders for us. Good Luck with everything and I hope this was able to help out!

Re: Decsions, decisions!
Is it possible that he's overeating & that's why he's spitting up?

What kinda bottles did you use?I had major issues with putting .5 of a teaspoon of cereal in 6oz of formula w/ a y cut nipple...
