i feel like a terrible mom...
DD is 7months old and has always had to be rocked to sleep. lately every time we try to put her down she wakes right up. i am off today and was getting so frustrated because i would have her asleep put her in her crib and then she woud pop immeditately up. so i let her cry it out and the poor thing cried for 25 minutes. she finally fell asleep but i feel MISERABLE and just want to hug her

I know it's tough, but you are actually doing her a favor. Good sleep habits are one of the biggest gifts you can give your little one. They need their rest.

Re: i feel like a terrible mom...
DD#1 also needed to be rocked for what seemed like F-O-R-E-V-E-R...
unfortunately, the only thing that started to help was belly sleeping...a big no-no for some, but what DD needed to get more rest.

And, you are saving yourself lots of troubles down the road by taking care of this now believe me! It only gets harder as they get older!

You are not a terrible mom. We did CIO with DS and it's hard. Once they understand it though, naps and bed time are a dream..Sooo much easier! Please don't feel like a bad mom!

i totally agree - what a great way to put it. you are a GREAT mom for letting her learn to fall asleep on her own!

Re: i feel like a terrible mom...
thanks again. i actually love rocking her and having her sleep on me for a bit...and i would continue to do it if i could put her down without her waking up i just did it again for her nap and she cried for 20 minutes instead of 25. i guess that is progress but i still feel awful. i rocked her first, put her down, and she woke up immediately.
i hope this is worth it
