Showered this weekend....

It showered this weekend! My sister and mother did an AMAZING job.... I'm just starting to get pics from people ( a few in my album)

They did a lunch at my moms house and had finger sandwhiches, muffins, scones, pastries, biscotti, tea, coffe, champagne punch and lots of other goodies. It was so girly and cute!

Apparently my sister has been shopping for a Chat Icon since I was 5 weeks PG!!Chat Icon Chat Icon

She had girl clothes hanging ALL over the livingroom and kitchen. She also got these adorable fabric covered boxes that were filled with fancy bibs, shoes, head bands, blankets and more clothes!!! THe great thing is the boxes totally fit the nursery decor and will look fabulous.

My in-laws were SUPER generous and boutght our crib and mattress set....

Overall it was an AMAZING day.....

I hate to even post this because It was such a great celebration for the new baby but I do need some advice.... VERY FEW people purchased stuff off the registry.......We got A TON of clothes.... and no gift receipts Chat Icon While I know babies need lots of clothes a lot of items are not even in the right size for the season. I don't think she will want to wear flannel pajamas in August........I literally probably have over 100 pajama sets.....I guess people got excited about shopping for a girl!

So I am at a loss of what to do since I don't even know where to try and return the clothes without recepits... Anyone have any advice??

ETA: I forgot to mention, my sister asked people to bring their favorite childrens book instead of a card or wshing well gift and we got over 30 books with no repeats!!! I am an avid reader so I'm so excited to start a little library for my Chat Icon

Re: Showered this weekend....

sorry! i know it feels weird to sound ungrateful butat the same time you dont need 100 pajamas LOL....i would maybe ask close friends of family for reciepts or at least where they got them....they shouldnt be offended..explain that you got doubles of alot and need a few items for the babys arrival....otherwise you are stuck buying it all yourself....i don't get why people just can't stick to registries lol tehy make it soo easy!

Re: Showered this weekend....

The same thing happened to me and we tried to make piles from where we thought the clothes came from. I know babies r us has a different return policy now so it may be harder to do. But my mil loves to shop so she took the clothes to babies r us , kohls, macys, and I think even tj maxx. If they scanned it and it was from there I got a store credit. By the end I had a $2k credit from all different places and I managed to buy everything I needed and didn't get at the shower. But it is unrealistic that they will wear everything they get. I know I even kept some of the cuter girly outfits and it was a waste because in the beginning you just want them to be comfortable. Fashion comes second.

Re: Showered this weekend....

How cool! I am glad you had fun.

I will tell you that I though that a lot of the clothing that people bought would be out of season for DS, but he turned out to be very small for his age (still is) and we ended up keeping alot of the clothes since they fit even though the *timing* seemed off. Def wait until your DC is born and see how she does.

If not, depending on where the clothes are from you may be able to just do size exchanges w/o receipts.Chat Icon

Re: Showered this weekend....

Sounds like a great shower! We had the same problem since our shower was out of state. We did get a ton of gift cards which were awesome but we did get a LOT of clothes without reciepts. I would save them and regift Chat Icon I used them for an extra gift with something off their registry.

Re: Showered this weekend....

The same exact thing just happened to me! I thought about trying to figure out myself where they may have gotten them from , but then I thought who am I kidding? I don't have the patience to do that. Luckily, a lot of them were onesies, bibs, etc. So, I figured maybe it will mean I can do less laundry!

Re: Showered this weekend....

I definitely second trying to sort by brand and guessing where these things come from...

And if the stores don't let you return w/o a receipt, ask if you can exchange them...

Like you I also have the same dilemma.. not only don't the clothes come with receipts but some of them are stuff I won't ever pick myself but I'm stuck with them! Ugh!!! :P

Re: Showered this weekend....

Either save to re-gift or donate. I am sure there are lots of charities or shelters for battered women right here on the island who would take them.

Re: Showered this weekend....

you look great.

Why not ask your sister for the recipts? Would she get offended? Was your registry info on the invite?

We got about 95% of our gifts from our registry, but we told Mom, sis, MIL to spread the word that they need stuff off their registry. People did ask when RSVPing.

You could also sell some of the clothes on ebay and take the cash or try to return to places that you can figure out, ie Macys, etc

My sister gave me all the receipts to teh stuff she boght me... I'm probably not going to return much of what she got me because she got clothes spacing out from infant to 2 years and in the right seasons. Everyone else that came to the shower got me clothes as well, much of it not in the correct size for the season.....

The registry info was on the shower invite and my mother and sister spread teh word about it as well.....

I am the first to have a girl in the "circle of friends and family" so I guess people got excited about girl clothes!!Chat Icon

Re: Showered this weekend....

maria how wonderful!!!! i agree, def try to take the items back to stores...you live in CT and stores anywhere other than NY are alot nicer with their return policies...just try to catch them during a weekday and they should be able to at least give you store credit! good luck!!
