Help! Fever/teething question
DD is running a 101.4 fever. Could this be due to teething? She just cut another tooth. Do babies run fevers that high when teething? She is 10 months and this is her 2nd tooth.

Re: Help! Fever/teething question
I remember reading somewhere that a fever over a certain point was not linked to teething...but I'm not sure what that temp was..I want to say over 100.5...I would call you ped just to be safe.

Re: Help! Fever/teething question
My understanding that teething doesn't cause a fever but rather an infection does. Because cutting a tooth usually means open gums, it is possible for a baby to get an infection while teething.

Re: Help! Fever/teething question
I think that is a little high for it to be teething, I also thought with teething they run a low-grade fever, not one that high.

Re: Help! Fever/teething question
I don't think its from teething that high. The ped said teething could cause a low grade fever but, anything over 101 i don't think is considered low grade.
Our ped's rules for DS (but he is 15 mos they were diff. when he was younger) is fever over 101 tyleonl, fever over 102 call ped. that's the rules we go by however if he had a fever of 101 for more than a day and i couldn't see what was wrong with him i owuld prob take him in.
hope DC feels better soon Sickness stinks! we are fighting it here too

Re: Help! Fever/teething question
Thanks ladies. We gave her tylenol and will see how it goes. If she had a fever tomorrow morning it is off to the ped we go!
