Curiosity RE fasting and the 1 hr
People talk about fasting vs. not fasting all the time in regards to the one hour test. My Dr. told me to fast (for 8 hrs)and I passed with flying colors (according to her). I think part of the purpose of the test is too see how your body handles the glucose spikes.
Out of cuiosity, what happened with your test?

I was told not to fast. I was tested at 11AM and did not eat anything that AM, had food & ice cream actually at around 8PM the night before.
I passed with flying colors!!

Re: Curiosity RE fasting and the 1 hr
I didn't eat anything after midnight, and my test was at 8:30 am the next day.
I just missed the passing mark.
However, same scenerio for my 3hr, no food after midnight, but I did pass the fasting glucose, but failed the 1 and 2 hour blood draws.

I didn't fast. I was just told not to go crazy on carbs that day. I had some cereal for breakfast and had the drink at 12pm. I passed.

Re: Curiosity RE fasting and the 1 hr
I fasted (nothing after midnight except water) and failed the 1 hour. I fasted for the 3 hour (no water or food after midnight) and passed.

Re: Curiosity RE fasting and the 1 hr
Had my 1 hr at 8 am, fasted since 9 or so the night before. Failed (got a 162).
Took the 3 hr at 8 am, fasted for 12 hours before, passed all 3 blood draws.
makes no sense to me but whatever....

Re: Curiosity RE fasting and the 1 hr
I put other b/c:
Last pregnancy fasted and failed both 1 hour and 3 hour. Also fasted for my sugar test after pregnancy to see if levels where normal and failed.
This pregnancy fasted and passed 1 hour.
eta: with both pregnancies I took all the tests at the same time.. 9:30 am, and did all the same stuff for them.

Re: Curiosity RE fasting and the 1 hr
I was told it didn't matter. If I was to eat breakfast to pair up a protien with a whole wheat carb. I wound up not eating but only because my test was early and I wasn't hungry yet. I passed.
