Help which monitor to register for!!!

I originally registered for the Summer Video monitor. Then I kept hearing how wonderful the ANgle Care Monitor is and I thought I would register for that instead. Then I was thinking that I should probably also register for a hand held Monitor for when the baby is not in his/her crib. So I put the Sony monitor on my registery. I don't know why I'm having such a hard time with this.

What is everyone else registering for?

They do completly different things.

I had the Angelcare and the Summer Handheld.

The Angelcare is a godsend in the beginning - I'm not going to lie. But, I only used it for the first few months bc once my son started moving all over the crib there was no point to it anymore.

Now, 17 months later - I have my summer handheld with me at ALL TIMES. That is the greatest invention ever. I can see if he's asleep, if he's napping, if he needs to come out. you name it. It is the greatest monitor out there.

If you get that one you don't need a sound one.

I'm having the same problem actually. I was looking at the Angelcare monitor since I think it would put me at ease for SIDS. But then I started hearing about the Summer Video monitor and realized that I would love to be able to see the baby at all times.

I dont think you need a regular sound monitor if you get the video monitor since it has both sound and video. But if you just get the angelcare, you'll need a sound monitor too.

I may go ahead and register for both the video and the angelcare I know they're pricey, but I think its worth it.

I didn't have the angelcare so I can't speak to that but the Summer Handheld Video Monitor is one of my top gifts!!! I LOVE it! For example, during DDs nap today, she woke up 3x but went back to sleep. I didn't go in because although she was making noise I could see what she was doing and knew she would go back. If it was only sound, I probably would have gone in and got her and then shortened her 2 hour nap to 40 min

LOVE angelcare

we don't have to worry and check-up on him while he's sleeping... if his breathing gets shallow, an alarm will sound. that means super-tired mommy can crash when baby does w/o a care....

Well they are two different monitors. I didn't do the angel care b.c in the beginning she was in a bassinet right next to my bed b.c I was BF and I had a csection so it was easiest for me in the middle of the night. Honestly I thought about getting the angel care but I thought it would drive me crazy - and I have several friends who used them and got false alarms to the point they were so stressed they took them out. So I didn't get it. I do have two monitors - just a sound one - for when she was really small if she fell asleep in the pack n play and I had to run to another room to do something I could use that. But I really rely on my Summer handheld and don't really see the need for anything past that one. If I didn't have it mounted I could move it around to suit my needs better.

We bought the summer handheld for DD, and it was the single best purchase we ever made. We discussed the angelcare monitor with several pediatricians, who all concurred that it creates more anxiety with false alarms than it helps
