Annoyed w/ People - Just a Vent

I have been SO looking forward to having a Holiday Party this season -
So, we're doing it the Saturday before Christmas ........and have an invite list of 65 people. - Yeah, I have a small house, but it's a casual cocktail party, not a sit down 5 course dinner !! -

Now tell me WHY I am 'crazy' to do this ?? (I will be 24 weeks) - Everyone is at me and saying "WHY would you do that, you're PREGNANT !!??" And when I say I feel find and am excited about doing it I get that condescending "Oh, just WAIT and see .......you're going to EXHAUSTED. You're NOT going to be able to do ALL of that work ......." blah blah blah -

Ummm, I'm pregnant, not dead !! And really? Why must you rain on my parade? I ENJOY this stuff - I LOVE to plan and host these things and while everyone seems to be 'oh so impressed' w/ the fact that I have 'gone all out'
I really don't think of it as being SO much work .......Probably b/c I have fun doing it -

I feel really good, I have ZERO to complain about with this pregnancy, I thnk it's a combination of me being VERY lucky, and also having a 'suck it up and deal' personality. - I tend to not make a big deal out of things and don't LIKE to be fussed over and coddled .....SO, pregnant or not, I feel really good - WHY can't I host a party while I'm PG?

I mean, if I was planning to do it at 36 weeks or something, I'd say, OK - I'm clueless and niave, but really? It's just a few weeks away ..........why am I stupid to think I can handle it ??

tell them to suck a fat one. I got the same thing for doing Thanksgiving, and I was 32 weeks. Was I tired, HELL YEAH. Was I shot come 6:30 HELL YEAH. BUT I never complained about it and just charged on through. It was a lot of work. BUT I was not going to eat Taco Bell on Thanksgiving. It was my first time doing it and yes I was over whelmed but it was a success. You will be fine. Do a little each day and rest in between.

I dont think you're crazy at all! If you have fun and want to do it, then have a blast, girl! Will you be tired afterwards? Probably...but then again, most non-pregnant people would be tired after hosting a party for 65 people too!
I think it just comes as a shock to people when you actually want to DO something while you are pregnant because there are alot of people (my DH's entire family, for example) who absolutely REFUSED to do anything as soon as they POAS and used the pregnancy as an excuse. That isnt' to say some weren't legitimately feeling lousy, but the majority I think were just being lazy.
If you feel good, then do it. I was battling the crazy xmas shoppers at 5am on Friday morning and i'm 33weeks. People told me i'm crazy, but i still feel really, really good (knock on wood), so why am I going to sit at home and eat bon bons and watch the View? It just seems silly to me.

People will always have an opinion.

I can tell you from my experience-- at 32 weeks, I honestly don't feel THAT different. Just fatter-- and the ramifications of being heavier. I could TOTALLY host a party... BUT, I will say that when I think I am "not prego", I tend to get tired more quickly or just wiped out in general. Because I don't feel THAT different-- I don't know when to quit.

Regardless-- people suck and do what you want. Being pregnant is not being disabled and I personally HATE it when someone tells me I can't do something... So, I say plan your party and show them all what a superstar you are-- since apparently you need to be if you do anything else besides sit on the couch and eat ice cream when prego.

But I will say this...

I host Thanksgiving every year. We have a huge immediate family (I had 21 at my table this year, which didn't include all the kids!) at 30 weeks pregnant, it was ALOT of work, and I'm still feeling it! I'm not complaining because I LOVE doing it and live for Thanksgiving time, but it did kick my fat pregnant azz!

I'm having Christmas Eve dinner at my house for 10. I also have been getting the same comments so I just told those people well be prepared to help me, because if I don't have Christmas Eve then no one is going to step up and do it.

Oh, please! Its like we are invalids or something. I heard the same thing about having 18 for Christmas Eve dinner. My mom is doing all the cooking; its just at my house.

I am totally in the same boat.. forget about having people over, I teach and people criticize the way I reach for a textbook on my desk, or the fact that I take a class on Saturdays.. Its not like im dead... im just gaining some weight!!!

Blah, you'll be fine! I hosted Thanksgiving and DD's giant 1st bday party so far this pregnancy....and I hosted a big father's day last pregancy. I say disinvite anyone who is obnoxious

I hosted a New Years Eve Party and my due date was Jan. 26th.
Party went great. DH and I slept in the next day. LOL

The night before my water broke, I hosted a HUGE party for DH's bday (Jan. 13th)...My water broke the very next AM. I felt FINE the whole party and company stayed until about 1AM..
My water broke 11 days early at 8AM...LOL

Tell people to mind their own business.
If you didn't feel like doing it, you wouldn't.

Is it crazy to have 65 people for a party when your pregnant sure probably - but WHO cares? It is YOUR party not theirs - and if you want it - by all means you should DO IT!

Don't let anyone tell you not to. Just keep in mind that you might be a little more tired so maybe try to space out getting things ready to get a bit of a break before the party so you can enjoy it. If people really bug you about it - you could always put them to work - and make them help out if they have to put their 2 cents in.

I totally hear where you are coming from. I heard all the same from everyone about Thanksgiving. It's so annoying.
Someone even referred to my pregnancy as "in your condition"
