Quick Update on Me and synopsis of labor
Hi Girls,
First thank you all for all your well wishes and FM's- I will get back to you in a few days
As my sister said I went in for my twice weekly Dr's appointment on Mon to find that my pressure was 145/90 and I had +2 protein(shoulod have none) For those that remember I had to move when I was 32 weeks and get a new Dr. My Dr came in and said well-you're graduating today-high pressure, protein in your urine we are going to do a c-section on you today. This was around 11AM. He said just go right over to the hospital for a 1PM section.
Called my DH who was on his way to have dental work done-he turned around, met me in the hospital and I was in the OR at 1:30. I got the spinal and instantly felt warm and tingly. I laid down and got numb within about 2 minutes. It was slightly freaky but manageable. I started to feel a little nervous so my nurse anesthitist (sp)gave me some Reglan and Zofran which helped. About 5 minutes later I heard Ronan cry. Then 1 minute later Declan. They did a "drive by" as they call it showing me the babies. My husband was able to go in the room and film them being cleaned up and weighed and then they took them up to the "Special Care" nursery-this is what they call the NICU.
I felt fine after the c section until about 5:30 the next morning. I started violently shaking and could not stop-I called my nurse and burst into tears in front of her because I felt so anxious. She thought it was hormones and i had no fever.
However, the next day around 5 PM the same thing happened while my sister was wheeling me back from the nursery. This time my fever was up as well as my BP. They pit me on IV antibiotic and I seem to be gtting better. My Dr thinks I had a uterine infection prevalent in twin births because of more placental attachment sites.
One word of warning-I am pretty tough and have a high pain tolerance but getting out of bed the morning after my c-section was brutal-absolutely brutal. However-the more I walk and get in and out of bed the better it is. I am so tired I have to get off and just want to end this by giving my sister Mikismom a HUGE shout out. She didn't slap me even when I yelled at her for hitting into doors with my wheelchair. She is amazing! Thanks Steph-and thanks to my Mom too for taking care of me when I didn't feel good and my husband already left. Thanks Mom- I know you say you don't read this but I know you do

I'm so glad everything went well for you.
I am scared about the pain after the c-section, especially because I'm already dealing with this massive back injury. Did they give you anything for the pain? They told me they'll put morphine in my spinal, and then after that, if it's really bad, they can start me on a morphine drip.
I hope you're enjoying every minute of being a new mommy--I can't wait to be doing the same thing in 2 short weeks! Take care of yourself!!

Beth honestly it is a pain I have never felt-like your insides are ripping apart-very sharp. If I was you I would do a morphine drip but like I said its really only agonizing for that one day-after that it gets much better-and whoi knows maybe it was just my body

Re: Quick Update on Me and synopsis of labor
Melissa, it must feel so surreal!!!! YOur boys are adorable!!!!! Congratulations!!
I hope you feel better soon! If the c-section is anything like my myomectomy, then I know your pain. How about constipation? I heard it feels worst then the incisions. At least it did for my myomectomy.
ETA: How are the boys doing? Did they say how long they will be in NICU?

Re: Quick Update on Me and synopsis of labor
Thanks for the post. I have tons of anxiety over a potential C, and I guess just labor in general.
Glad to hear all is well. Your little boys are adorable.
BEST WISHES AND CONGRATS AGAIN!

Re: Quick Update on Me and synopsis of labor
First Congrats I love your little boys' names!
JuJu - the constipation..you may not have any, I didnt. I didnt have a BM in the hospital (I was there 3 days) which isnt out of hte ordinary for me. I had DH go get me Colace hte first day I was home, and I never needed it by the time he came home I was done and it was painless!
Someone asked about pain meds...THey can put you on a morphine pump, that is what I was on. Basically you can then self medicate, but you can't over medicate. You have a button and you push it whenever you are uncomfortable and with in seconds "ahhh" It does make you out of it, I had never taken pain meds before but I was alittle loopy from it!
Dont worry, c/s are different for everyone but mine was fairly "easy" recovery!!!
