We have a large chocolate lab mix...she can get very rambuctious at times, but is a mush, my DH was worried at first, but we know that we would never leave the baby unattended and I truly believe that she will be a mush with the baby, no way I would ever get rid of her!!! She is part of our family!!!

I think people are just silly sometimes. They hear "stories" of animals and kids and like to scare the crap out of pregnant women.
Take a look at my post on Parenting for my dog and my son
Also, my DS can hold his own with other pets b/c we have one. He doesn't get shy or nervous with other animals, which I think is GREAT!!
