Biophysical profile?
How is this done, and what exactly is looked at? I was told on Friday that I am to go for weekly sonos/biophysical profiles due to the velamentous cord insertion and now some calcifications in the placenta. Fun times.
I was told that there's no cause for concern at this point, they just want to check on the baby and make sure he's developing normally. Once a week for 10 weeks... Good thing i had all that vacation time saved for maternity leave!

Re: Biophysical profile?
Basically, they measure different parts of the baby- the head, the abdomen, the femur. They check the heart, and position of the placenta, the amount of amniotic fluid, and look at the baby's bladder.
I may have left a couple of things off, but its kind of like the Level II sonogram but not as detailed.

Re: Biophysical profile?
I've gone for 2 "growth" sonos since my Level II, one at 26 weeks and one at 30 weeks, due to the cord insertion issue to make sure the baby is growing properly and that seems to be what they measured at those as well (head, belly, femur, fluid). The last one was friday - and they had me laying flat on my back for so long that i got dizzy and almost fainted.
Is there something else they are looking for with the BPP?
