LETS DISCUSS (related to the Christmas show)

Okay this is not to start a huge debate but I am curious:

1- how you decide at what age to bring your kids to a show.

2-do you walk out if your kids are disturbing others?

3-Do you care if others are affected?

I'll answer

1- brought DD#1 to show(beauty & the beast) at 11 months(DH made me)
It was a nightmare, she cried and fussed and I spend 95% of the show in the lobby. I was so stressed.
Brought her to the Christmas Show at 4 and it was great, I knew it would be fine because she sat through movies and local shows.

2- I did walk out

3- I totally cared if others were disturbed because they paid to see a show not listen to my kid cry.

Also we were on the recieving end of the talking, fussing, kicking, complaining, crying 2 year old last year and I was mad and my kid was miserable. She got her hair pulled like 5 times by the kid behind us and her seat kicked the entire time!

Re: LETS DISCUSS (related to the Christmas show)

1. We just took DD to her first show last month. She was 23 months. We took her to see Playhouse Disney Live and she LOVED it!!

2. Yes, I would have taken her out to the lobby if she was very fussy.

3. Yes, I do care if others are disturbed. It's not fair to subject everyone to her meltdown.

I haven't been to the Christmas Show yet. I've brought them to see Beauty & the Beast.

They were 3 & 5. Loved it. Pretty well behaved for the most part. Although somewhat confused & there was a loud discussion whether they were watching TV.Chat Icon

I would have walked out if they were disturbing others - however it wouldn't have bothered me if another child was getting antsy - particularly at the Christmas Show. My feeling is if you don't want to be around a bunch of kids, don't go to that show.

Re: LETS DISCUSS (related to the Christmas show)

i just know based on my sons temperment that right now he is not ready for any type of shows and its a total waste of money in my mind to even try.

I hope he will be soon, but realistically I cannot see many kids under age 3-4 do well ....

Yes I would take him out if he misbehaved or was having a hard time with it as well. People pay money to have a nice time, not hear or deal with my son KWIM?

Re: LETS DISCUSS (related to the Christmas show)

I just went to see the Christmas show yesterday, and I am totally convinced as is the rest of my family that Kristina would have done well - even this year. The only part of the show that I don't think I would have been able to contain her for is the 3D part.

So, next year, I will def be bringing her.

If she gets fussy... I will MOST DEF be bringing her out. It's not an inexpensive seat, and I wouldn't want to disturb anyone else's experience.

We took them to see Elmo Live or the Wiggles when they were 18 months (dd) and 2yo (ds). We figured that if they freaked out people would be more understanding and worst case we'd leave.

They are both pretty well behaved, but if they were disturbing other people we'd leave. Why torture ourselves and others, KWIM?
