Our living room is 99% complete - progression pics
This is by far my favorite room in the house. Over the past year, we have bought a rug, new entertainment center, end table and coffee table. This room is FINALLY complete. The only thing we have to do is paint the radiator. And maybe get new couches.
With the previous owner's stuff
Day we closed
Carpet up
Floor sanded
Day we moved in (7/14/07)
As it is today (I did a great job getting Lilly's bed out of the way, huh? )
The only way I could possible love this room more is if it was warmer. With 15 foot ceilings, the HUGE non-energy-efficient windows, and the wood floors, it is the coldest room in the house, but still my favorite.
Thanks for letting me share!

Re: Our living room is 99% complete - progression pics
I immediately remembered the unique and gorgeous wood floors you have so when I saw the thread, I was anticipating seeing them.
Then I saw the first picture and misunderstood - I thought - OMG why would they cover up those gorgeous floors?!
I didn't realize that was the BEFORE picture.
I think it's dreamy, you did a wonderful job. I really love that floor!

Thanks! We got it at Crate and Barrel - it's the Taka Trunk. We got the matching side table as well.

Re: Our living room is 99% complete - progression pics
It looks great! I LOVE the floors. can i ask? was it expensive to get the floors refinished after pulling up the carpets? DH and I are buying a house and there is carpet in the living room and downstairs. There is hardwood underneath the rugs and everywhere else in the house. We are pulling the rugs up right away and refinishing the wood floors. Who did you guys use? TIA!

We used Harris Floors and were very happy with them! To sand, stain and poly the living room, dining room, 3 stairs and a teeny tiny landing, it was about $800. Our living room is 14x19 and the dining room is 12x12.
I think we saved a little bit of money because we pulled up the carpet ourselves - I'm not sure if it would be more if they pull the carpet up (if they even do that at all...)
I can find the phone # for you if you want, or you can just search for it. Let me know if you need it!

Beautiful!
I love those floors! What a shame the old owners had those beauties covered up with carpets all those years!
