Going into Manhattan with a toddler....

Has anyone taken a cab with a toddler with them and no car seat?? Just wondering. I dont want to do it but Im preggo and dont want to walk to Radio City (we are seeing the Christmas Spectacular) and my mom is scared of subways.

Driving is an option but we would have to take 2 cars and it could get really expensive to park in those garages.

How bad is it to take the baby on the subway? I get a little nervous too, to be honest.

I have done both. Personally I liked the train better.

However, if you take a cab I make sure I am buckled in with the baby in my lap.

With the crazy traffic I actually would sugguest the train as the safer alternative

We did a cab with no carseat for the first time in September. My sister held him and belted him around her. It wasn't that hard to do. We had a nice driver who took it nice and slow and it was only about 35 blocks we had to go.

I've never done the subway though.

I have taken a cab. I put a seat belt over both of us and hold on really tight. Obviously, it isn't the safest thing to do but it is the only solution if that is the way you want to travel.

I have also take the subway. I lived in the city so I am very comfortable with it.

Another option would be taking the bus. We did that a few weeks ago and Jeremy (2yo) loved it!

Im glad to hear these responses. I thought most everyone wouldn't do it.

Now I am leaning towards a cab. We are going early to the show, so hopefully traffic would be that bad, plus the tree wont be up yet.

We used to hold him on our lap whne he was younger but now I buckle him in his own seatbelt. I hate the subway so I would take a cab over that any day.

I live in Manhattan and take cabs with DD every so often.

When she was young, I would put her on my lap and strap her in.

Now that she is bigger, i buckle her in hte middle, lap only.

I live in the city and have yet to do a cab since he outgrew the infant car seat. I opt for the subway if I can just because it still makes me a little nervous not having a car seat and the driving of most of these cab drivers.
