WWYD? at 39 weeks?

So basically I'm 38 weeks 6 days (tomorrow 39 weeks) I went to the dr on Monday and am 100% effaced and 3 cm dialated and I lost my mucus plug yesterday. I was contracting, but it stopped. I'm just crampy right now and my back is KILLING ME. I am SERIOUSLY bloated to the point where I can't move my hands and my legs are so swollen I can't walk. And I have a 21/2 year old to take care of right now.
I have the option of being induced tonight.
Should I do it? I had a different circumstance with my first son and I'm just so unsure of what to do.
Do you think these are reasons enough?? Am I doing it for selfish reasons?

It sounds like your body is pretty much ready to go. I think you would have a successful induction, but I'm no Dr. I was induced with DS and had a great experience, so if I were in your shoes, I would probably go ahead with the induction.

The thing is, you could be induced and the induction could take 3 days, or you could have a failed induction and wind up with a C-section. I would personally wait until I was overdue and use induction as your last option.

Ask your doctor to do a membrane sweep, that might help.

I think it depends on if you have someone close by that can help with Mikey. If you do then I would wait it out becuase chances are it is going to happen soon.
Now if you have to really plan who is giong to watch him then I would do the induction.

Good Luck and easy labor vibes !!

i think your body is ready.. you are completely effaced, which is half the battle of an induction-- 3 cm you can probably get an epidural (if you want) before they even start the pitocin.. it could go really smooth. I say go for it.. Chat Icon

Hi and Thanks! (I haven't been on here in ages! Good to hear from you!)
I do have someone to watch Mikey... but after school hours since mom and MIL are teachers. So tonight would be totally fine.
