Anyone else afraid of the umbilical cord?

I will preface, I am NOT GOOD with things like this, neither is DH. I am sorta afraid of it-- what it will look like, it turning black (or is that a myth??) and falling off, and how to care for it.

Please tell me I am not the only squeemish one!

I know, I am a big baby and I should just pull up my skirt and grow up!

I think after experiencing child birth, it wont seem like a big deal at all. I havent really thought about it, but it is kinda icky.

Yes. I survived it with DD but was not thrilled about it at all. It totally grosses me out. I made DH deal with it.

We were just talking about this the other night, and both of us are skeeved. I'm sure after child and placenta delivery it will be a drop in the bucket, but yes, scared and grossed out for now pretty much sums up us over here.

It is really not that icky. They cut it really short and then it falls off pretty quickly. It was a lot less icky than I pictured it would be.

I didn't pay attention to the other stiff that was coming out! I was focusing on the baby so that part went fast.
