I read that it removes flame retardent so I did not. Although I think they sell baby fabric softener at BRU

Re: Question about cleaning cloths

No fabric softener for baby clothes. Also, and you may have already thought of this, but you might not want to wash everything just in case she grows out of the newborn stuff before she gets to wear everything. I'm washing just some newborn and some 3 month stuff until I found out how big my little chubster is.

You know...I dont know if Im being crazy thinking this way...but I really have no nb clothes. NB clothes go up to 8lbs...and they are saying at 37 weeks shes 6lbs in there...so I just got 0-3 month clothes. I got 5 onesies that are nb and thats it...I should be okay right? Am I the only one thinking this way?

Re: Question about cleaning clothes

I didn't buy any newborn clothes but I got some at my shower. I had the same thought process as you. At 36 weeks my Chat Icon is measuring 6 lbs 14 ounces so I think he'll be fine with the 3 month stuff and I think you will be too!

Re: Question about cleaning clothes

I wouldn't use fabric softener, unless it is those fabric softener balls they sell at BRU which basically just help to fluff the fibers in the clothes. Fabric softener has perfumes in it, especially the dryer sheets and if you are going through the trouble of using fragrance free detergent, why then add the fabric softener? KWIM?

As for the NB clothes, my DD was 8lbs 1oz at birth and wore NB clothes for a few months. The 0-3 were huge on her. In fact, she even fit into a couple of preemie outfits. I swear, she had heavy organs! Chat Icon I don't know where the weight came from -- she was such a teeny tiny little thing.

DS used NB stuff up until he was 1 month old. He was 7 lbs 13 oz at birth but most of the 0-3 month stuff was too big in the waist area. I didn't buy any NB stuff and had to run out and get some outfits. Some companies 0-3 run smaller but carters stuff was so big on him. However, length wise it did fit! His coming home outfit was HUGE on him and didn't really fit until last week and it was 0-3 He is 7 weeks now!

ETA: I used fabric softener when he was first born and then he developed an eczema/ contact dermatitis thing. Ped. said no fabric softners - not even the ones at BRU!

Re: Question about cleaning clothes

my DS weighed 0ver 10 lbs, so needless to say he came home in tight 0-3 clothing, and tight size 1 diapers...nothing newborn...this lil one seems to be smaller, but i agree, she wont be using anything newborn for too long....id get maybe 2 or 3 sleepers in new born size..and a pack of onesies..im gonna do that and send my mother out for a new coming home outfit if she turns out to be a peanut

Re: Question about cleaning clothes

Def do not use and fabric softener, especially the sheets. Not only does it wear on the flame retardency, but it is wax based and can irritate ther skinChat Icon
