Would you choose an early induction if doctor recommends it?
I'm just curious about this one... I have a feeling my doctor would allow it 'cus I'm tiny and have GD. There may also be a medical need for it.
If your OB recommend early induction a week or two before the due date, would you go for it?
Why or why not?

I didn't vote b/c I would have to look into it more. If there was a danger or real medical need, I suppose I would have to, but I am really really hoping to go natural.

I am having an early induction. The thing that concerns me is that, statistically more inductions turn into c-sections than do natural labors. But I am taking my Dr's advice

My doctor recommended an early induction (1 week early) because my son was measuring so big. I researched it and agreed to do it. My son was born 22 hours after the beginning of the induction and the doctor said I would have been forced into a c-section if I had gone full term because of the size of his head. As it is, he was stuck under my pelvic bone and had to be vacuum extracted. I trusted my doctor and she was right.

I was scheduled for induction, but was 1 week late. I was concerned about the possibility of a c-section, however, I was able to have a successful vaginal birth.
I think it reallly just depends on how your body reacts to the medication.
I personally wouldn't have done the induction early, unless it was medically necessary. In my case, the baby was late, and had no sign of coming.

this is why i elected to have a planned section over an induction (i also had GD). once DD was born, my dr. said it was a good thing we went that route because there was no way i would have been able to push her out.

I would follow your dr's advice. I wouldn't elect to have an induction, but if it was recommended (which it was with my DD), then I would do it.

I was induced 3 weeks early due to extremely low fluid (after being on bed rest for 5 weeks). I trust my doctor and his professional opinion. If he suggested to me that it was medically necessary, yes I would opt for induction.

If the dr. says I should do it, I will. I will do whatever it takes to keep my baby safe. If it means labor has to be bad, or I wind up c-section, so be it.

I was induced at 39 weeks for a few reasons, I DID wind up with a c-section but I have NO regrets, I had a great experience

Like you I also have GD and I have a smaller frame. I'm 35 weeks and my baby is measuring on the larger side, I'm carrying 2 weeks ahead plus with the GD I have extra fluid so I know that I am headed down this route. My baby will be very large if I go full term. I already went into preterm labor last week and was hospitalized for a week, so I am hoping to hang on 1 more week to make it to full term but at any point after that I am completely open to being induced if I don't already go into labor.

Agreed. I wouldn't agree based on the doctor's recommendation alone. I would probably want to gather some information for myself & decide if it was really necessary. I would of course do it if it was absolutely necessary to the baby's health. I turned down scheduling an induction for one week after my due date with my DD. I told the doctor I wouldn't schedule anything until 42 weeks. I ended up going into labor on my own at 41w.
