ugh, ive had enough

so, ive been sent FOUR TIMES for the glucose tolerance test...5 if you count the time i puked at 8 weeks..the one at 8 weeks came back fine they did it this early because they suspect i was undiagnosed with my DS and wanted to catch it early if i had it..
the second one (done by my old drs office who i didnt like) was a "form" of the test..because ive had gastric bypass surgery i have a very hard time handling that much sugar in my body and am almost guaranteed to get sick/puke/faint/sweat or all of the above each time i take it..i can only handle small amounts of sugar, and can only have it with water to wash it down, or i just stop if im not feeling right...i know my body...
either way, when i egt to the new drs office last week, he immediately wants me to do a 1 hour, doesnt care that im gonna puke, tells me the importance of it, which i really know is true...i take it, and was sick, but OK...well, i failed it..BECAUSE I WAS UNAWARE ID BE TAKING IT, wasnt fasting, and ate 2 cupcakes that morning with my son for his birthday lol not to mention birthday cake for him the nite before..i KNEW id fail...needless to say he sends me for another one today only this time, a fasting 3 hour...i threw up ALL OVER the room in the lab and almost passed out, thank G'd my DH was with me to drive home..

im so frustrated, and i know hes gonna try and talk me into rescheduling, but really, id rather just be put on the GD diet and assume i have it, then take that test again...im almost 30 weeks, i just want this over with already..
sorry had to vent Chat Icon

OMG, why do they keep making you take it if you've passed twice before. How annoying!

Jesus !! If you're passed twice but they are still concerned, why don't they just advise you to watch your sugar intake (which from your explanation of getting sick from eating too much sugar, you do anyway ...........) ???

Re: ugh, ive had enough

exactly, i watch my sugar intake bigtime...my carb intake may be another story though especially because im a vegetarian...anyway so i spoke to the drs office tonite, and these are my choices...

#1...i go retake this test AGAIN

#2 they treat me "as if" i have GD because they simply cannot prove i dont, and i have to follow the GD diet, and prick myself 4x a day to check my sugar, and see a nutritionist...

im hoping once i see this nutritionist they know enough about my gastric bypass to know how to "take care" of me..so far, i feel like no one does...
I dont mind following the diet, AT ALL..i really watch what i eat..im almost 30w pregnant and ive only gained 6 lbs so far!! But i DO mind having to stick my finger and check my blood all day...someone please tell me its not so bad...Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

seriously, I'd tell my Dr. to simply treat me as if I had GD. get the glucose monitor and do the diet. it's not that bad.... it takes about a week to get used to, and if you DO have it, you'll know because you're micomanaging your sugar levels and your Dr. will know the levels after every meal.... and can prescribe diet modifications and insulin if necessary.......

that test is horrible Chat Icon. I feel your pain Chat Icon
