NEED Help Re: Burnt Popcorn Smell
Last night at around 12:30 DH proceeds to make microwave popcorn. And all of a sudden smoke is billowing out of the microwave after 3 min. OMG, I was flipping out! We opened the microwave and before we knew it the house was a smoke screen. Thank goodness nothing but the bag caught fire. We proceeded to open all of the windows and turn all of the fans on. I lit 4 Yankee candles and sprayed fa breeze. Around 2 am the smoke finally dissipated and we went to bed.
This morning I wake up to this Horrible burnt popcorn smell...
How do I get rid of the smell???? Any ideas I will try.. I feel like puking right now it's still so horrible!

Re: NEED Help Re: Burnt Popcorn Smell
definitely wipe down the entire microwave with like a spray nine or some kind of nice smelling, strong smelling disinfectant... wipe it inside and out.
then, do you have any carpets -- just vac them a little, put some of that powder down before you vac -- any type of material nearby can "soak up" an odor -- so, carpets, couches, could use a wipe down with scented baby wipes. other than that - just keep doing what you did and it'll just take time.
HTH.

Re: NEED Help Re: Burnt Popcorn Smell
if you have any cinnamon sticks boil them on the stove...
you can also take a lemon, cut it in half and microwave it..that seems to take the smell out of the microwave at least

Re: NEED Help Re: Burnt Popcorn Smell
I would clean everything that may have become affected with any smell. Wipe down counters, mop floors, vacuum, etc.
Then I would light some candles.
