Re: Picking the area that you're living
well.. mostly we picked our town becasue DH grew up here and its a nice town- big enough where its has a good school and things to do... but still nice and small. a big factor, too was that its really close to both our jobs.we each only have about a 10-15 minute commute. i can't tell you how nice that is, and how much it cuts down on everyday stress, gives us more time at home together, etc. now... we picked our specific house and neighborhood becasue its quiet-- its a lake community so theres the lake with a swimming beach right here, and the club has all kinds of activities... and our hosue backs up to state land, so its basically woods and no houses behind us... makes for a GREAT backyard!!

Price. Literally. And distance to the beach. Other than that, there's not much that's convenient to Mastic

Re: Picking the area that you're living
I live in CT, but we focused on 5 or 6 towns in our area based on the proximity to work and the quality of the schools. We could get more for our money if we expanded our search, but I did not want to compromise on the schools.

Re: Picking the area that you're living
DH had a house there
But it is a top Suffolk school district and I really like it, even better than the Nassau town I came from... we just sold that house and bought a bigger one in the same town/district.

Re: Picking the area that you're living
Well it's where my husband lived already lol But the neighborhood is nice, it's pretty and close to stores and safe. In fact, we're thinking of buying the house for sale down the street LOL and Huntington Station has good schools, too.
But we're also looking at Bethpage, where his best friend lives. The bonus is MUCH lower taxes and really good schools. And closer to work for DH and the city (work) for me. It's also a cute little town. The bestie just loves it there!
