Can you build on top of an addition?
so the house I love has an addition on the first floor, one room.
assuming it is structurally sound ( ) do you think it's possible to build another room above it?

It doesn't matter that it's an addition. It matters whether or not the foundation and structure can support another floor. Not all original homes can handle a 2nd floor. You would need an engineer or architect to look at the foundation and wall system to see if it could support the extra weight.

Yes. It all depends if the foundation can take the additional weight.

my DH (architect) said
1. to get a contractor to look at it and check the footings
2. if u find out it isnt strong enough the foundation can be reinforced
