does your pediatrician have a separate well and sick waiting rooms?

i am looking for a new pediatrician and my first one had separate waiting rooms for sick vs. well children.

the new one i went to did not. however, with my first dr. we waited 2 1/2 hrs to be seen at a regular well visit.

here, the parents i spoke to said they never waited more than 15 minutes?

is a separate waiting area a big deal?

The first ped I went to in St. Louis didn't.

The first one I went to in NY did and so does the one I use now but....the one I use now, you have to walk through the sick room to get to the well room!

2 seperate areas

If you don't want to wait, why don't you try to make the first appointment of the day or the first one after lunch?

We don't have separate areas. They always take newborns into an examing room immediately. I would have preferred separate waiting rooms, but I love the doctor so it isn't a big deal to me.

I use Mid-Suffolk Pediatrics who has offices in Mt. Sinai and Islandia. They have seperate well/sick areas and I have never waited more than 15 minutes to get in.

Dr. George has them and so did Dr. Grello... but you can't count on parents to use them properly. I've been in the well room and have had my son playing blocks with kids who are hacking and coughing and snotting all over the place.

Mine has a sick and well room as well as a policy to put the newborns in a special room as soon as you enter the building.

Newborns are taken first thing in the morning usually.

I'm in Howard Beach, Queens. I go to Quuens Pediatrics they are located up the block from my house.
They have their sick office downstairs and their well office is upstairs.
I like it seperated so the sick germs dont affect the healthy kids.

No separate areas, but well visits are scheduled at different times than sick visits.

Mine is well & sick together.. Then both well & sick children go in the same examing rooms.. So anything airborne etc. would still be in the hallway and examining rooms.. regardless of the waiting room situation.

Yes they have separate and the only time I waited a long time, 30 minutes was when my daughter was brought in at 8:30 at night. They will see patients that late to avoid ER trips, and that night there were a lot of kids being rushed in.

Nope. The wait is always short.

My ped does not - but I was told if you are sick they quickly take you to a specific room so they aren't hanging around - if you have something very contagious like chicken pox my ped will come down to your car and see you there.

Etd to add the longest I waited was 40 mins though for a well visit. DD hasn't been sick so I don't know how quickly it actually works.

My ped office is cool-- separate sick and well rooms with separate entrances, separate sick and well examining rooms, and separate sick and well bathrooms. It's basically like two whole separate office suites, the only thing in common is the doctors, lol.

One time I waited 50 minutes (in an examining room, not a waiting room) for a sick visit for my DS, but I was ok with it because I really begged to be seen early in the day and so they really had to squeeze me in.
