Daycare parents and car seats
I plan on taking DD to and picking her up from Daycare on most days, but if I have to start early or come home later DH said he would drive her to/from. However, right now she's in the infant seat which we have 2 bases for... totally affordable.
However, when she grows out of the infant seat and we have to do a convertable seat - I'm thinking we have to get 2. I priced the Britax seats... and I hear they are too much of a hassle to move around between the 2 cars. Plus, I may not know till later in the day that I can't pick her up or DH may want to pick her up early if he works the afternoon from home.
Suggestions?

Re: Daycare parents and car seats
We have Britax Roundabout in family car. We bought Costco Scenera from Walmart for under $50 for DH's car. On the days when he gets home early enough to get DS from daycare, he goes home first, puts car seat in car and gets DS. Most days I pick him up and I drop off everyday. DH maybe picks him up twice a week. DH drives a company car, so he can't leave the carseat installed in his. It works for us!

we have 2 seats, but DH hardly ever gets DS....if that is the same in your case, get a less expensive one for his car.

2 cars, I think you should get 2 seats. You can find less expensive seats that are just as safe. They all have to pass the same safety standards. Some are just easier to install. A Cosco Scenera is a great seat and is around $45 at Walmart.

We have 2, borrowed 1 from my SIL.
There's no way we could swing it with only 1.....

Re: Daycare parents and car seats
Thank you - I have a company car myself, but I have to keep the seat in there b/c I'm taking her to Daycare on my way into territory. DH's work car is smaller so he may want to put it in and take it out as needed, I'm not sure. I'm still trying to figure out how I'll store all my work stuff in the car, but my boss said people do it all the time who have kids so I guess I'll figure it out.
I guess 2 seats it will be. Should the grandparent's have one too for emergencies? Should I buy it for them or convince them to buy their own? They should do a multi-car discount or something. Do insurance companies ever pitch in on this stuff?

We actually share the second carseat between DH's car and my parent's. We have a minivan, so most of the time we all travel in that. My parent's only need it when they watch Thomas without us, so it's easy enought to put the second seat in their car. We never move the main seat from mini van.

Re: Daycare parents and car seats
DH and I equally pick up and drop off at daycare so we plan on getting 2 Britax. It will be expensive but to me it only makes sense to get the one I feel safest with since we use both cars consistently. If I happen to find a cheaper seat that I feel just as safe with, I would get 2 of those.

Re: Daycare parents and car seats
We each have one in our cars.
I really don't see the need for two Britaxes if you say that your DH doesn't drive her much.

Re: Daycare parents and car seats
We only have one.
Basically bc DH's car is a 2 door. We both commute from different LIRR stations (long story) and we always have both sets of car keys on us incase one of has to work late.

Re: Daycare parents and car seats
It would be a big PIA but we have parents at my day care that leave the car seat for the other parent. You would just be taking it in and out of the car.
